Has anyone tried them? Do they really work? I'm looking into getting a port-a-pole so I can do it but you have to be under 200lbs for the poles and waiting for my sternum implant to heal.

Yup, nothing is quite so empowering as pretending to be a stripper. Works your abs AND your pride!

Pole dancing somehow just doesn't appeal to me... Lol. I'm not against stripping at all, but it just seems strange. Hanging from a pole must develop an amazing core though!

it is a good workout and fun. ...BUT i definitely recommend a class if you can take one. For one thing its kinda fun to do with friends and see what it should look like, but for another you actually learn some moves and a routine. The big this though is the pole can be dangerous so its best to have someone be able to teach you how to do things properly a couple times before you do it on your own

    nevermind, found it on Google.

    Pole dancing sounds fun though.

Excellent work out. Builds your legs, arms and most of all your core. You can get a lot of tips and tricks from youtube. Never push yourself to do tricks that are beyond your level though. It's never worth an injury. I LOVE my X-Pole.

My goal is to finish a class series before the end of the year. I'm over 200lbs right now so I have some work to do first but I've heard great things and it looks like a lot of fun.

Surprise, surprise, my fiance is very supportive of this goal.

Guys usually do support this workout
  • Per "soccerella", definitely would suggest some intro classes, and work up from there. The upside of having a pole at home would be the reps and practice you could do in between classes. I've been taking pole for just about a year, and am on inverts and arial work. I've never had any other strength workout that has giving me the definition, flexibility, and strength as pole has. I still haven't purchased a pole for home, but i have plans in the future for it!

When I hit the 100 pounds lost, my hubby is putting a pole in the bar in the garage. Good exercise, good entertainment....
  • Learn something new everyday....and I already knew about pole dancing.
