To anyone who's never heard of sumo squats...

This is the only way I can work my inner thighs! A friend told me about them! Instead of your feet pointing forward when you go down for a squat, point them out away from your body. Like a sumo wrestler stands! And then do your squats! I just discovered these and I love them. I've started doing 3 reps of squats: 20 regular, 20 sumo, and 20 plié squats. Great leg and butt workout, especially after a good run! :)

I'd recommend less reps and more weight. you will build more strength that way and see more progress.

I don't have any weights! I can only lift when I'm at my boyfriends house. Is there a way to add resistance to squats using bands?

yes there is. Stand on the band, but either keep your feet wide, or put a little slack of band between your feet. Pick up the handles. At first, it won't offer much resistance, but the further you stand up, the more resistance it offers.

If you want to see an example, ChaLean Extreme offers one. You can check it out from your local library if you don't want to buy it.

Make sure you don't spread your legs too wide though. I messed up a groin muscle doing something stupid like that.

My hips can't tolerate them. At all.

I work my inner thighs at home: sit on the floor, in front of a dining room chair. Place the arches of your feet against the front legs of the chair. Squeeze as hard as you can for 100 seconds. Or maybe 150. Trust me; you will feel the burn.

If you want to reve it up a bit...try them using a 30# kettle ball weight...hold it with both hands and pulse up anddown....huge results!!!

Sumo sqts entail a farther spread of the legs...

Sumo feet are spread. Plié heels are touching. It burns the thigh muscles right above my knees, but I like them more for post run stretching.

Oh - because Google tells me they're the same things - http://www.google.com.au/search?q=plie+squats&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=l5cLT7_gOqShiAeE_eTeBQ&biw=1366&bih=578&sei=nZcLT-uOLeTvmAWArYCuBg
