My Veggie burger experience

Okay so I hella wanted a burger on friday but wanted to keep it healthy. The only Fit option on the menu was a veggie burger. I was like ok I'll have that I mean people eat these all the time it could not possibly be that bad. Oh boy was I wrong. It was horrible kinda reminded me of tree bark. It was brown like tree bark.... I was thinking what kind of veggies did they use to make this foolishness cause none of the veggies I cook at home taste like tree bark. I was thinking "oh crap I just bought some veggie burgers to eat for lunch" I'm not the one to waste money so I said to myself I guess I'll be eating tree bark patties for the next couple of days. Today I pulled the burger out of the freezer and looked at it.... it was different than the one I had the other day. I could see all the pieces of veggies and it was bright in color.,,,, like green, orange, yellow. Like real veggies. This looked a little more promising but the real test was how did it taste. So after cooking it for 8 mins on each side and placing it between some Orawheat sandwich thins I tasted it. It was like an explosion in my mouth of all kinds of yummyness. Like it was hella good. I'm so happy that I did not give up on veggie burgers because of my one bad experience. Dr. Praegers's California Veggie Burgers are the bomb.com. What kind of foods have you tried that surprised you by how good they tasted?

I know how you feel about the veggie burger thing. haha! My friend at work turned me on to Morningstar Farms Spicy Black Bean burgers. They are ammmmaaazzzing! I usually have them without bun with a little bbq on the side or have them with a multi-grain bun. I also like the portabello burger; same brand. I have also used the Morning Star Farns sausage crumbles in omelets and pasta sauce. Very good. The most surpising thing was my hubby; who thought they were all good.

Processed type veggie burgers are a bit horrible yes...and often still a bit greasy. Here's a healthier and much tastier option: Feta cheese and fresh veggie burger. The feta cheese holds all of the veggies together (personally I use peppers, red onions, carrot, garlic, mushrooms if you you like but I don't, good seasoning, and whatever else you fancy really!) Very easy to make, especially in a batch, and you just grill them once everything's stuck together. I'd write a recipe but I am a very ad-hoc cook and never really measure or make things the same every time.
  • Love Gardenburger Black Bean burgers when my hubby grills he makes the whole box for me and it's my lunch for the week amazing!
  • That's GREAT!

I started eating these when my son was little and I bought them to give to him. Not only did he love them but I LOVE THEM! I have this weird thing that i kind of think they taste like stove top stuffing- which I also love... Anyway there are definitely bad ones out there but not the good doctor's!!
