Does toasting a slice of bread, change its calorie content ?

When toasted, there is loss of moisture, but, I feel there should not be any change in calorie or nutrients. However, I see some difference when logging in MFP

Bread - Rye = 73
Bread - Rye, toasted = 80

Bread - Whole-wheat = 70
Bread - Whole-wheat, toasted = 78

It breaks some fibre down into carbs.
  • I think it has something to do with the amount of energy it takes your body to process it actually.

Nope, no difference in nutrition - I suspect the varying entries are for different brands of bread. Don't forget that most of the database entries are added by users so there is no guarantee as to their accuracy.
