I bought the 30 Day Shred...
I've been working out and jogging for a couple months now.
Lifting some weights.
Just tried using it and couldn't get past the first 5min!
I'm top heavy(if you know what I mean), and can't do 1 modified pushup!
The jumping jacks made me feel a little nauseous.
Could it being "that time of the month" affect my ability, or no?

Has any one else struggled like this?
How long did it take you to get the first routine down, before you could move on to the 2nd?

Hi! Yes, it is very hard in the beginning. Try to do wall push ups instead and just work your way up! Have some breaks in between the jumping jacks, but make sure you keep pushing yourself. Definitely don't give up, it will be so worth it in the end!
For me TOM is definitely a huge influence on my exercise.

Stick with it and hope it gets better soon!

Ok, phew.. I thought maybe I wasn't going to be able to do the video.
I watched it first, and thought, that doesn't look so bad.
It was very discouraging when I got winded shortly after the warm ups.
How do I do wall push ups?
    What is TOM?

    Hey,

I'm the same. Top heavy and can't do the push ups at all, though I do try. I just get sore knees, even with a yoga mat (wooden floor). I also can't do sit ups as I have a back problem from falling off whilst horse riding years ago, so I do planks and just bought an ab roller, hoping it works!

I did manage to get through the full 20 mins though, just switched out pressups and sit ups for something else.

I'm guessing TOM is time of month

Oh haha. I feel slow. :)
Maybe I'll wait until Thursday or Friday then.
    That must've been crazy.
I was in a bad slip & fall accident. Picture cartoon style, over dramatic, my feet came out from under me and I landed on my back,
Although I can't actually remember hitting the ground.
I found out almost a year into dr appointments and chiropractor visits that i had scholiosis!
What do you do instead while doing the video?

I replace the sit ups with planks and i do a nice simple one on my bed. Lie back, place your arms to your sides, and lift your legs (keeping both legs together) in a pointing straight up position. Then slowly bring them down. When your legs are about 2-3 inches from the bed, hold them there for 1-2 minutes. Then lower the legs and relax. Do as many reps as you can.

To replace press ups I do a dumbell chest press, which she does in the video. I just do more reps and make sure I pull my tummy in. The dumbbell chest press is an exercise comparable to the push-up in movement. This exercise will tone your shoulders, chest and triceps. To perform the dumbbell press, first start by sitting on a bench with the dumbbells resting on your legs. Lean back and slowly lower the weights to the sides of your chest. Bend your elbows at 90 degrees. Press the dumbbells up over your chest and squeeze your pectoral muscles. Lower the weights back down to 90 degrees. Do not go too low on this exercise as it can strain your shoulders. While you're lying on your back, don't let your elbows drop below the horizontal line of your body, says the Mayo Clinic. Once you complete the set, rest the dumbbells on your thighs, and slowly sit back up. Control the momentum of the weights so as to not allow them to torque on your shoulders.

Keep at it, you will improve! I am on my 2nd round of it and feel stronger! It still kicks my butt and I can do some regular pushups now!

Don't know how you are eating, but make sure you are fueled before you do it. I could definately tel the difference depending on what I eat. I don't have specific suggestions, but make sure you are hydrated and have some carbs. I hear at least an hour before but not a heavy meal.

I am very out of shape, also top heavy, and I just finished day 7. On day 1, I could only do 3 pushups. Today, I did 20. Just take it slow. Push yourself, but within your own physical limitations. Everyday you will get stronger.

Arghhh somehow my reply didn't get posted...

But yeah, TOM = time of month
Wall push ups is basically a push up against the wall. So you stand about 30-50 cm away from the wall, hands on the wall on shoulderheight. Lower yourself down to the wall (resisting with your arms, dont just let yourself fall) and then push yourself back to standing position. Must be lots of videos on youtube so you can get a correct form. Good luck!

I also have to do the wall push ups and on other things I just can't do yet I try to keep moving, jogging in place, jumping etc. I just did level 2 yesterday and I thought level 1 was harder?

I've been doing 30DS for about a week now. I'm a DD and during the butt kicks and jump roping I have to hold myself down! LOL Am buying a new sports bra as soon as pay day rolls around! Follow the girl that does the modified versions... pushups, I can NOT do a pushup, it hurts my wrists really bad, not sure why... but I started doing the pushups holding my weights.. not sure how to explain, just hold them! And I can actually do a pushup that way!

As for the time of month... I'm not sure, I have an IUD and haven't really had a period for 3 years! YAY! lol

You need a good sports bra!! Not just for this but whatever you do, it will help. I just got a Moving Comfort Fiona off of Amazon. GREAT investment.

I do incline pushups on the back of my sofa. After 8 days I finally made it all the way through doing those. Can't wait to do real push ups eventually! I also couldn't do the butt kicks at first (I stepped them out). Modify however you have to and keep pushing yourself. You will get there!
