How much protein is too much?

I keep exceeding my MFP recommended daily intake of protein. Is that a bad thing? What does too much protein do to your body? I'm under the impression protein is a good thing and that's why most folks follow up a workout with a protein shake, right?

MFP has the protein setted too low, so it's probably a good thing.
I get about 170g of protein on a daily basis, which is around 1.5x my body weight in pound. I've actually lost body fat when I increased my protein intake - and started lifting but that's another story!0 -
If you are active and exercise regularly (not just weights, any exercise) you need roughly double the RDA.0
