Weight Loss = No pants size change?

This isn't me questioning "Oh why is it that I haven't gone down a pants size" I actually LOOOVE my big hips n thighs (of course I want to tone them out, but I love my shape as I trim the fat). I just want people to not be discouraged by not seeing any change in themselves after a set amount of weight loss. I want to state that I thought my legs would be thinner by now, but they have stayed almost practically the same even after 30 pounds weight loss! At first it bugged me, but then you got to look at yourself and see the accomplishments you made! Don't always leave things to the scale or the size of your clothes (though it is a boost when you see a good number I'll admit...), but... think about those NSV (Non-Scale Victories)! Like... being able to run 3 minutes straight, or 10 minutes straight, or hell even 30 minutes+ straight! THAT'S AMAZING! Or what about... you finding it easier to eat healthy rather than reaching for those familiar potato chips! It's amazing how fast weight loss actually affects you without even realizing it. Maybe you feel more energized? Physically fit? Better breathing patterns/lower resting heart rate? I know that sometimes weight loss can be so hard and such an emotional burden... but when you see yourself slowly becoming healthier, just think of the decision you made however long ago to become physically healthier, and just see how far you have come people! MFP has changed my life! What about yours? :)

P.S. Sorry... I WANTED TO INSPIRE! Random little rants (though it isn't really a rant...talk?)

I appreciate your post. It's easy to be discouraged when I feel I've worked hard and deserve to see a change in my numbers on the scale, but I have to admit I FEEL so much better, like myself more when I eat right and exercise. I'm actually starting to look forward to my workouts! MFP has been really great - and I've only been at it about a month or so.

great rant! Really appreciate it. I actually bought some new pants the other day (for biz)....tried them on and they were TIGHTER than ever...got really bummed out becasue I had been really working at it. Ends up I had grabbed the wrong size.....idiot.

I'm one of those "stocky" people...gain weight all over. have a buddy here doing MFP and he is all belly...when he loses anything it's noticable. For me it's the haunches and moobs....eventually it will be more noticable. Just keep on going. Actually reached for celery the other day...???

    thanks for the upbeat rant

Ahh, I thought I was the only one :) I have come down a bit to fit a lower jean size, but like you said, I have come to appreciate - finally - the changes my body is making! This is hard work and my body really is proof of it. So one day I might be in a 16, maybe I won't, for now I'm happy to feel good...better...in my skin and it motivates me to keep at it! Thanks for the "rant"!!

A lot of it is due to toning, I find. I lost my first 10lbs or so doing exercises that toned my body well. I went down a size, and in fact that new size felt a little bigger than necessary.

Then, I changed the type of exercise I was doing. I continued to lose weight, but I wasn't toning up any more. Now, I'm back up to that bigger dress size despite weighing less.

Ditto!!! I love that you posted this...I have large thighs and hips too and lost about 15 pounds and my size pants have not changed yet!! Yes they are gettiing a little baggy especially in the waist area but not around my thighs and hips...But I have not let that discourage me. Keep up the great work!!

I figured as much... I started doing side bends every night to lose the chubs around my pelvic bones on the sides (you know?)... I'll definitely drop several pants sizes once they're gone, but idk cause of my thighs still :P
