Mindless!

I am on day 5 of 21 chocolate free days (special occasion/personal satisfaction etc). One thing I have realised is that nearly all of my eating of junk food is done mindlessly ie while I am watching tv, on the internet, reading etc. I don't think I ever eat so called bad foods in a focused way ie when sitting down and eating is the only activity at the time. As opposed to eating meals which is a more mindful undertaking.

I have also observed my own kids eg when they were watching tv the other day they were eating some chippies and I guarantee they ate more than they would have if they had not been absorbed in the tv programme.

Anyone else notice this??

    YES! I got in the habit of this, unfortunately, and it was so bad that sometimes I could not watch a movie or program unless I had something to eat or munch on. It was just a compulsion. I would go through a bag of popcorn so quickly and had not even noticed that I ate it so it was not satisfying. Mindful eating is definitely something I strive for now.
