Whats up everyone. My name is Ryan, and I am trying to lose weight to get into the police academy. I currently completed my associates degree in criminal justice, so the only thing holding me back from furthering my career is my weight. I am 25 years old, 6'6'', 325 pounds. I am doing a diet with one of the guys I work with at a local bar. It isn't the healthiest diet, but after 1 week I am impressed. I am using my fitness pal as a way to keep myself on track and motivated. If anyone else is on here for the same reasons let me know and I will do my best to check in on you. I Currently work for a private security company and a local bar and I am enrolled in my bachelors program, so I may not be able to talk on here as much as I would like to. Anyways everyone wish me luck. I need to get down to 250 pounds before I can even consider the academy.

And eat lean meats, low fat dairy, nuts, whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies.
Do both cardio and resistance exercise.
AND EAT BACK YOUR EXERCISE CALORIES~!
That's it.
It's actually quite simple.
The easy part is the what to do; the hard part is the doing.

The only problem for me with the 1lb/week idea is that i need to lose 75 lbs. I don't want to wait a year and a half before I continue on my career path. I understand what you are saying though. Thanks for the support.

Hey all, my name is Jenn. I don't think I have as much weight to lose as some people, it's only about 30 pounds. But I'm 5'1", and when I started 35 days ago I was 160lb. When I calculated my BMI it was in the obese range, which shocked me. I knew I was overweight but didn't realize it was that bad. My husband decided after talking to his doctor he would go on a diet because he has about 70 pounds to lose. At first I decided to do it with him because I have been wanting him to lose the weight (it's not healthy and he's Type I diabetic) and I thought it would be easier for him if I was watching my eating habits as well. I'm sure a lot of you know it can be hard to be on a diet when your significant other/roommate/family etc. is gorging on unhealthy food in front of you.
When we started, myfitnesspal told me I was on a 1500/day diet. After keeping track of my meals for just one day, I realized that before this I was eating close to 3,000 calories a day! I used to eat huge breakfasts, and when I was at work I would gorge on whatever was there (we have an AWESOME cafeteria!), then 2 helpings of almost everything at dinner, PLUS SNACKS! My close friend started calling me Lipitor (the cholesterol medicine) over a year ago because I ate at McDonald's so much.
I'm sorry this is long but it just starting coming out. I am 8 pounds down so far, and I want to get down to 130lbs. I hope by reading everyone's posts here it can keep me motivated, which will help keep my husband motivated! Happy weight loss!0 -
Good luck to you, Jenn!! Yes, calculating that BMI can be a real eye opening experience! I'm 5'2, so I know how detrimental even 20-30 pounds can be. It's awful. I'm targeting a 30lb loss also!0
