I am just starting week 2 of Burn but can already tell I need heavier weights for my lower body. I am currently using a pair of 10's.
Should I...
a) purchase 12 lb free weights - $30.00
b) purchase 15 lb free weights - $40.00
c) both - $70.00
d) neither as I will only want even more heavier weights soon
e) bite the bullet and get me a pair of Powerblock 2.4 (can't really afford them but more manageable than selecttechs)
I do have a pair of wrist weights I could wear but that would make all my reps heavier, which probably won't work on certain occasions.
Your thoughts are appreciated.

I wish I could help. I saw "weights" and "extreme" and the rest of it is just so foreign it looks like Greek to me! :0)
Good luck!0 -
Yes, you will need much heavier weights. In the Push Circuit, I believe I was up to 60 lb squats (8 reps, 30 lbs each hand). You have to go as heavy as possible during the Push month, and I know people have been able to go heavier than that even. I would at least go for the Powerblocks, but I do think even those might not be heavy enough eventually. I think the SelectTech weights are worth the investment, but if you can only afford the Powerblocks, I would get them. You will get much more out of the program if you do.0

I totally agree! I'm currently doing push, and the heaviest weight I have is 15 pounds, and even that's not heavy enough. I might end up having to buy these too! But being unemployed has put a damper on that so I'm going to do what Chalene recommended -- ACT like I'm using heavier weights to get more resistance.
Good luck!0 -
Wow 60 lbs...that's impressive.0

you can always utilize resistence bands, much cheaper but equally as effective0

I didn't buy the select tech 552's but I bought something with a similar design from Sears. I like them. I see the 552's are on sale on amazon right now.0

I bought the threaded dumbells (hand held) bars and the weight plates that you slide on then secure with a collar (screw). This way you can go as low as 10lbs (per hand) or up to about 60 (per hand)
I bought mine at fitness depot and the dumbell bars were 12$ each and the weight plates are $0.88/lb
much more affordable as the power blocks were $300 !0 -
The powerblocks I was looking at were $159 at ****'s Sporting Goods0

I went with the Xmark xm-3305. I think they should be perfect for what I am after0

I just got a price drop alert for the 552's. They are $285 now if anyone is looking for those still.0

If not more!0 -
...effective I mean. You'll be amazed at home your body will get stronger as weeks go by. I use the 10 and 20lbs a lot and when I get used to them I switch to resistive bands. I find bands more challenging then weights.0

I agree they are effective. I had a set of Bodylastics that I used for years along with the supplied DVD. They worked great until they snapped.0
