Spinning "pain"

I'm spinning for more than 8 months and you'd think I'd be used to the ... uncomfortableness ... by now. I thought to buy a seat cover but decided against it; I wear padded pants and even tuck a sanitary bad in there, but sometimes it's just not ... comfortable!
I hate to be indelicate but ... does anyone think it could be a "grooming problem? (Boy, I hope I don't get banned for asking that.)

Try the padded seat. I was told because of the constant up-and-down with the seat, that you continuously bump and can cause a painful butt. If it's anything else besides a sore butt or that inner thigh area, I'm not sure what to tell you.0

you may not have your seat adjusted properly. try playing around with moving it forward/backwards... i'd been doing spin class for a long time as well and our instructor said that most people end up sitting in the wrong position because at the time it seems more comfortable than proper form.....i spent a few weeks really focusing on my form and positioning on the saddle and once i got used to it, it's sooooo much better! remember you always want to be at the back of the saddle, even have your butt hanging off the back a bit.... and you want your hips, knees and toes in line when you're cycling around. oh - and gel set covers really do help!!

It is the saddle itself. The problem with spin bikes is your using a generic saddle that doesn't fit you right. Cyclists go through a couple of saddles before we find one that fits us right and then we have no issues. Your best bet for a spin bike is to buy a padded cover to put on the saddle and then try to get out of the saddle a lot during your workout.0

I, too, find bicycles uncomfortable. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of seat I've tried. The pressure on the backside pelvic/hip bones is tough. Maybe sitting on a firm pillow? I don't go fast enough to require standing or getting the bumping pain from standing while riding.0

You might also want to try some chamois butter. It helps a lot.0

Depends on the type of seat and the shape of your butt fitting it right. ha ha. I get bruised butt bones, but it tends to get better after a while. If its still bothering you, yes you can get a seat cover, or try bringing your own seat. Maybe one that fits your boooooty better0

omg I took my first spin class last night and my butt is SO sore. I wish it was muscle soreness...but it's not...I'll have to look into a padded seat for my boney butt.0

I hope I don't get in trouble for posting this - before I moved I was an avid spinner and Loved it! I have got a curvy frame so the seat would always bother me, but the padded seat really helped. About a year into my spinning at my local gym the gym bought brand new bikes - with even MORE uncomfortable seats - and I started calling spinning "vag - torture" because no matter what I did the seat would KILL ME. It was so sad because I loved the class - we tried re-adjusting the seat, a different padded seat - nothing helped. I had to drop my classes to once a week and then increase other forms of cardio - but I'll tell you - nothing helped me shed pounds and inches like spinning! Good luck finding a way to sit comfortably in your class!! I feel your pain0

In my experience, it takes a while (generally speaking ofc) for your bottom to get used to being on a saddle. Give it time, but if you're still experiencing saddle pain after a few weeks then you may have an issue similar to the OP's.
If you can, go to your local bike shop. They might have a special mat that you sit on to measure the distance between your pelvic bones. Then based on the measurements, recommend a bike saddle made for you. IMHO, most standard saddles are not made for women, so these issues are pretty common.
