Why are weekends so tough?!

I usually do pretty well during the week, but come the Saturday and Sunday, everything goes right out the window! It's like I can't control myself, or, even worse, don't want to control myself! I really get tired of all week counting calories and weighing and portioning and cooking and making and keeping such a conscious eye on every thing! I get so sick of it, I just want to eat like a normal person, and not be so hyper-conscious of every single thing that goes in my mouth and eat what I want when I want! :grumble:

But, as I typed that, I think it dawned on me that that's probably how I got here in the first place!

So by the time Saturday comes, I just lose it and get sick of it. The come Monday I feel guilty for undoing all the hard work I've done all week. It's a vicious cycle and I get nowhere.

Anyone else get like this?

Log what you're going to eat over the weekend ahead of time, and stick to the plan. Take the guesswork and take the choices out of it when you're feeling week. Make sure to allow yourself the chance to eat every few hours, and plenty of healthy snacks, fruits and veggies.

You can also allow yourself "free" foods - carrots, celery, don't log it (not that many cals anyway) and you can have as much as you want of it.

I do! And I have found that slowly I am eating less and less on the weekend just because I don't want to eat more. I start Saturday and Sunday with a protein shake (this way no temptation for a bagel or muffins or a big, greasy bacon breakfast). Then, I try and eat a bit more healthfully if I am out, but it's not a huge concern. I will have one totally not allowed meal, and really enjoy it.
If you really are great all week, then two days (unless you're consuming 4000 calories a day) are not going to break you.
Anything you do that is good for you is better than nothing.

I get bored on the weekend and the first thing I want to do is eat.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very busy....but even those couple of minutes here and there cause me to think of food and of course I want to eat it. Not to mention that the food is right there when I'm at home, not like when I'm at work and have limited access to a food pantry (Lol, no access to a food pantry, that is).

Over time my will power is getting stronger. Keeping the food diary helps out a lot. I don't want to have to log in all that food so it keeps me in check. I agree with pre-planning everything - except that I have the hardest time doing that since I'm never sure what I'm going to eat for the day until the day arrives.

I think recognizing that you do this is half the battle. It will get easier over time as you get more and more used to your new lifestyle.

I actually do better on the weekends. I can workout longer because I don't have to rush to work.
As well, I tend to eat better. I find that when I am sitting at my desk, I want to eat. When I am up and doing things I am much better off

Boy do I know how you feel. I have almost conquered this! I cook extra stuff and freeze it, buy healthy choice meals, prebag all my fruit and veggies on Thursday for the weekend so I won't be tempted to eat unhealthy stuff. Also, I do all workouts Monday thru Friday and take the weekends off. It works for me so far. Good luck!

I like this advice. I find that if I am going to have a really busy day that this idea works, so it is a great suggestion for the weekend too!

    It is really hard sometimes!!!!

Try to only keep good, healthy food in the house, you can't reach for the "bad food" if there isn't any around! At least this way, when you are home, you have control over what you eat. I also like the advice of logging your food before you even it it. I will have to start doing that. Good luck!
