How long has the weight stayed off?

Hi! I hit my goal May 2nd 2011 after 3 years of yo-yoing. I had trouble with maintenance for a few months and even with the higher calorie allowance in that phase I continued to lose then had to reset to gain 1/2lb per week. I have gotten it down where I only fluctuate 1lb here and there maintaining the loss and lovely new size for about 5 months now. How long have the goal meeters maintained and do you have any tricks you do to make sure you stay where you are? Personally I refuse to buy a new wardrobe again so I use the new clothes and inspiration to stay on track.

I will never stop logging. I think that is the key. I need to see it in black and white to keep myself on track. As long as it's here, I will be too.:flowerforyou:0

I've been fluctuating between 186-190lbs since June 2011. I want to shred a little more, so my goal weight is now 180lbs, fluctuating between 175-180lbs. Therefore, I'm in what I like to call a "kinda/sorta maintenance mode". I eat what I want, but I am still counting calories. Make sense?0

I started on this journey Jan 2008. I had lost 82# by Sept. of that same year through healthy eating and 6-7 days of exercise. I have fluctuated up and back down by about 5#. This is usually always due to lack of exercise (or those dreaded Christmas cookies). I know I will have to exercise 5-6 days a week for the rest of my life. When I don't workout I feel flabby after only a few days. I still log my meals & exercise and make myself notes. I find that it helps to keep me on track so much better. This is a lifetime journey and I'll keep logging and doing what my body requires to stay healthy. Best wishes to you on your quest for better health.0

I actually lost all my weight without logging - Just eating "clean." It really put me in touch with my body and I found it nearly impossible to overeat because fresh food is so nutrient rich and filling. I kept it off for a year so far, and recently started logging again to make sure I was getting enough protein and certain minerals I was concerned I might need to supplement. I probably won't log forever and I don't see the weight coming back anytime soon. I do fluctuate +/- 2 lbs or so depending on sodium, TOM and my workouts but I don't sweat it as long as it doesn't become and upward trend - which it hasn't since last January. Hope that helps!
Oh and congrats on reaching your goal BTW!0 -
I reached my goal in August 2011. Have kept it within a 5 lb range since. Have started working on some strength training and would not mind dropping another 5 lbs around my middle, but it is not exactly a goal, since it is up to my body. OP has been a great inspiration to me, keeping me motivated. I agree, no more new wardrobe based on weight gain, have gotten rid of almost everything else. Still logging daily, expect to do so for quite a while. IT keeps me focused.0

I was thinking this exact same thing this morning. I am about 5 pounds from my ideal goal weight. IF i end up maintaining where I am at now, I will not be too disappointed. But I am afraid that once I get to a point where I have NO weight to loose, will I also loose my motivation? I can't think of it as the end or the finish line once I reach my goal, I have done that ohh to often and gained my weight back. Guess I need to set up some goals with excercise and times, to help keep me motivated!! Any other ideas?0

I've been steadily losing since 2008(slowly). I haven't gained anything back, which i attribute to a huge lifestyle change in 2009/2010 that involves cycling and running. Since joining MFP in Sept of 2010, i've seen the bulk of the weight come off(40 pounds total, 20 in the last year). Logging food is a big part of that success, it keeps me in check.0

I hit my 'goal' weight in August 2009, and have been on track pretty much since.
I have become a bit of an exercise 'freak' :blushing: and know what I have to do to keep within my maintenance weight (about 2 kg either way). I feel better lighter, but look better with an extra kg.......:ohwell:
If I find that my portion sizes are increasing, or that there have been a few too many celebrations :drinker: and the associated 'naughty' days, I just do a quick 'fat blaster' week where I restrict my calories, up my exercise and the weight will come off again.
I logged calories in and calories out during my 9 months of 'weight loss', I still do and find that MFP really helps keep me on track.0
