I am very busy and find it hard trying to find a good time to work-out. I think the mornings would be good but I don't want to get out of bed:). In the evenings, after running kids around to practices, homework, dinner, etc. I am sometimes to tired to put in a GOOD workout. What has worked best for you, as far as working out?

I like working out in the morning to boost my metabolism at the start of my day. That being said, I have been unmotivated to get out of my cozy bed this winter so I work out immediately after work before the kids come home from school. If I wait any longer, life gets in the way.

The time when I can be most consistant is right after work. Either I start dinner first (if it's something that bakes awhile) or I workout first thing.

I started slowly at first, 20 minutes at a time, 3 days a week. Then I kept adding on. Now it's just my "regular schedule" - not something that I have to "plan" for. Just give it a start, and you will find what works for you.
  • And there is a gym not too far from my job. I will stop by and see what there rates are because that is a good idea. If I wanted to do in the morning, I don't HAVE to get out of bed. If I work out before I get home from work...no matter how tired I am I HAVE to take care of the kids:)...And normally after I workout, I feel good...at least for a while...long enough to finish up the day:)

I adopted the after work approach. I have about a 45 minute commute home so by the time I got there I would be so tired and opt out of working out. I joined a gym about 2 minutes from work and now go on the way home everyday. WAY easier to convince yourself if you head there before a long drive or even getting home. It just starts to feel like part of the day and being away from the house.

I find if you don't go home in between its easier to commit.

I have also tried working out in the mornings a few times, it feels great but when its cold I NEVER want to get out of bed earlier than I have to for work. Hoping when it gets warmer, I will be more motivated.
  • Yeah, I never really thought about right after work...but it really does make sense!!!

I prefer to workout in the evenings, but I like spending time with my 2yo, so mornings it is.

I like going right after work as well....gets rid of all the stress before going home to the kids =) I've been trying to make meals for the week on Sundays so I don't have to worry too much during the week...seems to be working so far!

That is the new plan...well once I see how much they cost. But I know everyone should be having new year specials.:)

Ooowwww..good idea. Do you prepare stuff that will last a few days or fix different things and freeze it?
  • I wish i could work out in the mornings, but that just isn't possible, I don't want my girls going to school all crazy looking with Dad getting them ready. I can see it now, ratty hair, shorts and a tank top in the middle of the winter. ha! But I usually work out whenever I can,and its centered around when my kids schedule's let me, usually its evening, after work or even 8pm at night. I just make sure to get something in. I also walk on my lunch, just to try to stay active :) I hope this helps :)
