I'm going to try a low carb diet plan, which I've never tried before. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, any carb meal plans would be greatly appreciated!!

I set my food goals on MFP to 75 % protein, 25%fat, and 25% carbs. I try to alternate my carbs. One day on whole grains and the next day on tubers or legumes (i.e. sweet potatoes, beans) to get a mix of nutrients associated with the different types of carbs. I would suggest only about 4-6 weeks of this. If you feel yourself running out of energy, bump your carbs up slowly. Just my 2 cents.0

Well there are a few good low carb plans. Some are stict while others allow for moderate carb intake. I am doing the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet which is moderate carb. Low carb plans include Atkins (very strict), Protein Power, Paleo, and South Beach. I like being on CAD because I still get to eat carbs once a day in moderation and balance with the rest of the meal. This is what a day on CAD looks like for me:
Breakfast - 2 hard boiled eggs, 3 slices turkey bacon
Lunch - Salad with lots of veggies, 1-2 ounces cheese, chicken breast
Dinner - Some type of fish, veggie, salad and brown rice w/pat of butter. Sometimes a low cal dessert like fruit, or pudding cup (all eaten in one hour).
Hope that helps if you have questions ask away.0 -
FYI I also know a lot about Atkins if you have any questions about that. The other programs not so much. My advice would be to research, pick a plan then read the book thoroughly before starting!!0

I am on a restricted carb intake and getting excellent results from it. Feel free to add me if you want to view my diary.0

First I want to say DUCK! Everytime someone mentions Carbs it turns into an argument. Take what you want from all the comments.
FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is all about PORTION CONTROL, Lower carb whole wheat bread, 4 oz.Sweet Potatoes instead of White, 2 oz Whole Wheat pasta, Low fat popcorn for snacks instead of chips and pretzels, cutting sugar drinks helps too. I try to limit my carbs to 150 a day and 30-40 grams per meal. It has worked for me for over a year. I'm not giving up carbs but I will make "MY" choices, what "I" consider, healthy. Not what anyone else tells me. Only you know how you eat and what you can do forever. Don't make unrealistic goals.0 -
I cut out bread and having carbs with every meal and wheat based cereal EVERYday and that worked for me. I still have oats, but other meals just involve salad or veg with fish or meat for most of the days then throw in a few treats days where I might add sweet potato chips to one meal, or a few roast potatoes to sunday dinner or a little yorkshire pudding but I'm still not eating anywhere near the amount of carbs in one day as I used to.
I've switched to gluten free bread but its expensive and higher cal so only have it once a week usually at weekend I like scrambled egg on toast. I had replaced rice with cauliflower and didn't have any other grains other than oats for breakfast (and occasionally Rice Krispies) but now I'm getting closer to goal weight I'm reintroducing some carbs.
I'm planning on trying Quinoa as I wasn't keen on brown rice and want to stay mainly wheat free. Whatever you choose it will work better if its something you can stick to or find a substitute for your favourites.0
