Hi all
I used to eat whatever I like but now I am trying to lose weight, I wonder if anyone has ideas of what foods to take for a days hike.
I thought for snacks ie energy - nuts and raisins would be good. I guess I am looking for high energy foods but low calorie options.
PS - I am a vegetarian (dairy ok)
Any ideas would be welcome

I am not sure if you can get Special K protein bars but they are 170-180 calories with ten grams of protein. Plus they are very tasty to boot.

Hi, when we go tramping (2 or 3 nighters) we normally take scroggin (nuts and raisins) and small chocolate bars. When we're doing these tramps I don't worry about my weight, as normally need all the energy we can muster to get to the next hut. We haven't done any day walks, so would perhaps just recommend scroggin, and pack a lunch with an egg sandwich or something for carbs and protein.
