Why does it show red if I go over my protein for the day?
Shouldn't that be a good thing since im exercising?

MFP automatically shows red numbers if you go 'over' on anything, but you're right in that it's not necessarily bad, even thought the red makes it look that way. MFPs protein rec is actually quite low. It's also based on a percentage that is split between carbs/fat/protein, the default puts protein quite low but you can actually go in and customize that setting to meet your dietary preferences if you'd like. Click on 'my home' at the top, then click on 'goals', then 'change goals' and choose the 'custom' option. From there you can tweak those percentages to make them work better for you.
Personally I just ignore the protein rec and get in the amount that makes me feel more comfortable. N:-)0 -
hi guys,
new to this and wanting some advice, saw that you posted about protein and I'm to scared to start a new topic...lol.
I have done this a couple of times (weight loss) each time low or no carb worked but I always binged on protein until it made me sick to look at eggs or tuna or salmon. This time around however, with the use of MFP I am calorie controlling a low-carb diet and incorporating some of the dukan style foods and recipes in. HOWEVER, this leaves me with a negative (red) value for my protein intake. I am wondering if I don't over do the fat or carb section and still have the healthy protein options I currently am if it is going to work? I am still getting some carbs but only small amounts, no bread or starchy carbs.
Just wondering if anyone has had success with this. I just can't bring myself to eat that many carbs, as I suffer many consequences from them...
Thanks in advance :glasses:0
