My First Real NSV

I don't write a whole lot on these boards, but I'm thinking I should be more active. I figured my first real NSV would be a good place to start!
I'm in week 6 of the Couch to 5K program, using Active.com's app on my iPhone. I'm always tired when I finish, but I'm never dripping with sweat or anything (you know, like the real athletes do!), just out of breath. So last night I pushed myself just a little bit harder. Usually I'm just finishing up my cool down walk by the time I hit my street. This time, I didn't even START my cool down walk until I hit my street! I had to take another lap around my block to finish out my workout! When I checked my log, I was down 30 seconds/mile from my previous best pace (which occurred before Christmas... I took that week off, and haven't been able to get my pace back since!). I'm still pretty slow, at about 12 minutes a mile, but I at least know now that I can do better. And that's exciting.

CONGRATS!!
I did C25K last Spring and was always slightly confused when I would end my workout at a farther point than the previous day(s) but felt so accomplished. Once I made it to a new point I would aim for that stopping point each day. Sometime I wouldn't make it, but with that goal in mind many times I did or would go farther. Keep it up! Running the full 30 min, and then completing a 5K is one of the best feelings ever!0 -
Thanks!! When you were finished with the C25K program, did you move on to another program? I know I've still got some time before I finish, but I like the motivation behind having a set schedule, and am wondering where to go once I'm done with this.0

December 2010 I could not run for 2 minutes...
May 2011 I finished my 2nd 10k (My first was in 2002, fell of the track somehow after that one)
Dec 2011 I finished my first Half Marathon
Weight lost during that time ~16-18lbs
Jan 2012 starting MFP 2nd week in 7lbs gone
Next goal Cowtown Half in February
you go kick the miles, it will come to you
I hated running and found any possible excuse not to do it0 -
Wow, that's awesome! I've been at it since November, and I just can't imagine what a 10K would be like. I've completed 5Ks in the past, but never with a time that I've been proud of. I would love to work my way up to a 10K, but man... it seems so far off. Congratulations on your accomplishments!0

You are doing AWESOME! I started the program this time last year, and consistently ran a 12 mm for a while. I'm just not able to consistently run a 10 mm. You are doing great!!0
