"WHY"

I seem to get started verywell and continue for a couple of weeks and then my momentium declines and I start struggleing to stay on top of the ball and soon after I fall off all together. I then find it really hard to climb back onand get my feet under me moving. I want to keep losing weight yet it seems that I keep faltering over and over, each time it's a little harder to get back in gear and do the things I know I need to do and also feel good after I have accomplished any one or all of them. I haven't figured out the big"WHY" do I keep repeating this over and over again. "WHY" can't I stay strong for the long haul or even past the same 5 lbs lost over and over again. Everytime I see I have lost 5 lbs I end up putting it back on and for me it really takes falling off in a really big way. I actually begin eating a lot of junk and seem to continue until the weight is back on even though after the first day of faltering I tell myself thats ok just make better choices tomorrow. But, the "BUT" that doesn't happen instead I continue to make bad choices until the scale shows the weight back on. "WHY" do I keep defeating myself over and over again. My health depends on me losing this weight and yet "WHY"?????????

Perhaps you haven't found an activity that you REALLY enjoy doing? And as far as junk food...just don't keep it in the house! Keep your fridge and pantry filled with healthy foods like hard boiled eggs, cooked chicken breasts, steel cut oatmeal, Greek yogurt, fruits and veggies that are easy for you to grab when you're in a rush. How about a buddy system to keep you motivated to do physical activity? If you stick to your routine for at least six months consistently, you will feel so much better it will be hard to stop! And water! Drink lots and lots of water...this helps to keep you full longer. If it was easy....everybody would do it...but you seem to REALLY want it, so just go for it!!0

Thak you, I will go shopping and replace my unhealthy foods with ones that you suggested. I will also try out different exersises to see which one fits me better, one that I will enjoy more. This was very helpful Thank you again.0

Just keep looking for NSV's. I started losing weight for a wedding I was in, I lost 30 pounds initially and I was scared that after the wedding I wouldn't have the motivation anymore. I loved the way my clothes were fitting, and the little comments I got from friends and family so much that I just wanted to keep going. If you have a lot to lose don't look at the big picture of how far you need to go, it's depressing sometimes. Just keep looking at how far you've come, even if it is 5 pounds (which is great by the way!) Take it day by day and soon eating right and exercising will be second nature to you. I also agree with another comment, find an exercise that you enjoy doing. Don't deprive yourself of your favorite foods, just try to eat them in moderation along with fruit or veggies. If you do slip don't throw the whole day out the window. Make your next meal or snack better. Good luck on your journey!! :flowerforyou:0

Not sure what to tell you, but I hope this is a bit encouraging:
One thing that happens to me on a regular basis (oh say every month or so) is ... HORMONAL SHIFTS!!! Oh the joys of being female...So the diet and exercise are going good for a while, then all of a sudden, for several days, I can't help but eat everything in the house and be a lump on the couch. It's NOT a bounceback binge from nutritional deprivation or anything. After a few days, it's gone and I eat normally again. I really think that it's just hormones around that time of the month.
Also, during normal days, staying active and regulating blood sugar is a big one for me. I'm by no means diabetic, but I think the principle is the same. if I'm sticking to a NET 1200 calorie diet, I need to snack at regular intervals, otherwise, I go a bit overboard at the next meal. With net calories, I try to eat over 1200 so I never feel like I'm starving, then burn the rest off to achieve the net amount. I do low impact aerobics like the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVDs. They work well for me because they're not too intense so I don't fall off the wagon because it's too hard and I'm too tired.
Stuff like Slim-Fast can help too - it's basically super sugary junk food in a shake or bar, but it's portion controlled. So as long as I make sure to eat other things that won't let me crash or feel super hungry after a slim fast snack (maybe a PGX or Go4Trim packet with water or a huge mug of lukewarm tea) I'm okay.0
