i know this may seem stupid but im bring this up because ive gotten several lately....when sending a friend request, please take the time to put a message with it, its just polite....i know i and several of my friends deny then when someone doesnt take a minute to add one. reason being i like my list small so i can be supportive and get to know them. if i get know message then im not sure what they are looking for.....thanks..M

    I found this more troublesome when I had a profile picture and I would get tons of requests with no message on days my pic was "risque".

    Since I no longer have a face, I have not received any FR's. Guess you could do that if you don't want any new friends :wink:

    I get a lot of FR's without notes from people who only request me because I am mutual friends with someone else on their list. Perhaps they liked how I supported their friend but it just would be nice to know that. I assume that they are just requesting everyone in their list. But I am pretty easy, I hate rejection and thus hate rejecting.

    Be witty, use your charms, let people know why they should be your friend!!

    "I want to get fit" is a poor example of a friend request

    "I see you run marathons, and I just started training myself, would love fellow runner friends for inspiration" - is better

    "Read your diary, and your profile, you reek of awesomeness" - May also be acceptable.

    But on topic, I agree. I NEVER accept requests unless there's a message to go with it, it got so bad that I had to put it in my signature too! Really, you know why you're adding me, is it all that difficult to say it?

    I agree, it's nice to get a message - but if I receive a friend request I usually have a quick look at the person's profile before accepting it. Haven't had to decline anyone yet! But I can see what you mean about keeping your list reasonably small - it's hard to keep track of a huge bunch of people! :smile:

    My issue is when posted a topic about wantng to add friends that would be extremely supportive and logged in daily, i had LOTS of people send request but only a few supportive people and even a few who do not login for days at a time is that to much to ask??

    I don't mind not getting a message with it, what I mind is not giving support back ever. If you want support hen you will have to give support too :flowerforyou:

    I like this topic, I deny friend requests without a message as well, unless I have seen you on the boards posting frequently or on another friends profile or status and I am familiar with you. But if I have no clue who you are what so ever and there is no message, I deny. It is just nice to sort of introduce yourself to basically a stranger when you include a message. I know a lot of people just do not think of it and mean no harm that is why this is a good topic.

    I actually put on my page that I would decline requests without messages and I still get them, so it seems to me they haven't even bothered to look at my page.

    I feel the same way about my friend list I prefer it to be quite small so I can really get to know the people I'm interacting with also if the support and encouragement is only one sided - I do delete people.

    I pretty much accept everyone that requests me.

    I do go back and delete people that have not made an effort to be supportive or comment or anything.

    Some people just don't even bother to look at pages or anything. My page clearly states I am not accepting fr but I am still getting them. *sigh*

    What I hate is people dont even bother to read my profile,it says right there that I am a freak who loves blow up dolls and porn so you know what your getting into when you add me. But it never fails someone will add me delete me a week later with a message saying I freaked them out or all my fetish talk was too much...ect ect its actually pretty funny so i guess i dont hate it too much
