Teeth pulled. Nutrition advice.

I just had two bottom molars pulled. They couldn't numb me enough to stop the pain for my life! My dentist said he was gonna have to go to the liquor store for me and him! Worse thing I went through. I'm glad I asked for laughing gas though! But here is the main thing. I have pudding, applesauce, protein shakes, and smoothies. I also have peanut butter, bananas, and oatmeal so I can make a smoothie later on tomorrow. But as of right now I can barely open my mouth to stick a spoon in it to eat pudding, apple sauce, and an ice chip. I need recommendations on what I can do now so I can still get my 1500 calories and the nutrition I need. Straws are out of the question whatsoever. Also, money is a big problem too. I literally just spent what I could afford to squeeze out on pain medicine and more apple sauce. Please help me. All advice is still appreciated and welcome for the future. Thank you in advance!

  • Go ahead and do the smoothies, and maybe broth like soups until your mouth feels good enuff to open. You probably wont get your full 1500 calories, but at least you will get something. Try sipping smoothies, soups and maybe green tea until you are able to eat the pudding and applesauce. Hope you get to feeling better. :flowerforyou:

I think it's okay for today if you don't get your full nutrition :( sounds awful with what you're going through, I wouldn't worry about eating unless you feel hungry. just rest and watch a few good movies :)

also though, when I got my wisdom teeth pulled, my doc told me to get nardone's pizza (it was in the refrigerated section) and microwave it... it came out really soft and you could tear pieces off and just swallow it like that. maybe something like that? it has 180 calories a slice >.>

BE CAREFUL with soups/hot tea (basically anything hot). You do NOT want to burn your sockets. :( You really need to take EXTRA CARE if you have something hot and assure it is basically room temperature.

Ice cream is a great option. High cals and it melts. :)

OK if you have a blender for smoothies - why not blend soup? It may look gross .... but lots of soups are filling. Be sure to keep the temperature down though.

Got all 4 wisdom teeth out at once last month. Best options were refried beans and cottage cheese. Good luck. I know it sucks and that understanding is maybe the best I can offer right now. :(

Thank you guys! I know I have to watch it with hot things like soups. I don't want my clots to go away. Today is going to be a soup day for sure.
