Hi all,
Advice needed please. I saw my therapist today and also turns out she's a Dru Yoga teacher I mentioned I was thinking of yoga to help mewith my mental health problems to complement the stack of medications I'm on (as I am suffering anxiety attacks, running outside (which I used to do to help) is becoming a bit of a problem).
Apparently yoga should be practised 2 hours after eating, can any yoga devotees advise please if they do this, if so why etc?
I would really value your help.

With all the bending & twisting, trying to do yoga on a full stomach is rather unpleasant. You may not have to wait a full 2 hours if you just have a little snack, but I definitely would not eat right before yoga. You'll likely only ever do that once, especially if its a difficult practice.0

Yeah, as one of my friends pointed out doing anything on a full stomach would be tough going - wasn't planning to do it straight after a big dinner. Problem is I can't wind down in the eve as it is (also have chronic insomnia) so exercise before bed I've been discouraged from doing, which reallly only left early morning - and I was concerned I'd faint or something if I exercised without eating anything. Really appreciate your reply though. Thanks.0

You could have a little yogurt or a banana or a piece of toast with peanut butter before yoga but if you could wait 20 minutes afterwards, you'll be happier.
As for yoga in the evening, there are several yoga sequences that are actually designed to be done at night and to help with sleep. If you google "yoga at night", you'll find a bunch not to mention several DVDs available on the subject. I have one with Rodney Yee that I like and it's only 10 minutes.0 -
Thats great! Thank you so much I'll look it up :-) love this site for the help and advice :-)0
