Determine your frame size AND then how much weight to lose!

Have you ever heard someone say that she is "large boned"? This is not just an excuse for someone who doesn't have a swimsuit figure. Determining whether you are overweight is not simply a matter of comparing weight to height. You also have to take body frame size into consideration. People are born with a frame that is either small, medium or large. Because larger bones weigh more, it should come as no surprise that a large-framed person who is 6 feet tall would naturally weigh more than a small-framed person who is the same height. Two easy methods can help determine body frame size.

1. Warp your thumb and longest finger on one hand around your other wrist. Be sure to wrap around the smallest part of the wrist.
2. Compare this measurement to the following test: If your thumb and finger overlap, then you are small-framed. If they touch, then you are medium-framed. If they have a gap, then you are large-framed. This is the first body frame size test.
3. Use body frame size test two: Measure the smallest part of your wrist, using a tape measure. You might be able to do this on your own, or you might need help.
4. Compare this measurement to the following chart for women: If your height is under 5 feet 2 inches, then a small body size will have a wrist measurement of less than 5.5 inches; a medium body size will have a wrist measurement from 5.5 to 5.75 inches; a large body size will have a wrist measurement of more than 5.75 inches.
a. For women whose height is 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 5 inches, a small body frame will have a wrist measurement of less than 6 inches; a medium body size will have a wrist measurement from 6 to 6.25 inches; a large body size will have a wrist measurement of more than 6.25 inches.
b. For women whose height is more than 5 feet 5 inches, a small body frame will have a wrist size of less than 6.25 inches; a medium body frame will have a wrist size from 6.25 to 6.5 inches; a large body frame will have a wrist measurement of more than 6.5 inches.
5. Compare this wrist measurement to the following chart for men: If your height is over 5 feet 5 inches, a small-framed body will have a wrist size from 5.5 to 6.5 inches. A medium body frame will have a wrist measurement from 6.5 to 7.5 inches. A large body frame will have a wrist measurement of more than 7.5 inches.
6. Compare the body frame chart for ideal body weight for medium-framed women: 100 lbs. for the first 5 feet of height, but 5 pounds for each additional inch. Add 10 percent for a large frame and subtract 10 percent for a small frame. So, for example, a medium-framed woman who is 5 feet 6 inches would have an ideal body weight of 130 pounds, while a large-framed woman the same height would have an ideal body weight of 143 lbs., and a small-framed woman the same height would have an ideal weight of 117 lbs.
7. Compare the body frame chart for ideal body weight for medium-framed men: 106 lbs. of body weight for the first 5 feet of height, 6 pounds for each additional inch. Add 10 percent for a large frame and subtract 10 percent for a small frame. So, for example, a medium-framed man who is 6 feet tall would have an ideal body weight of 178 lbs., while a large-framed man the same height would have an ideal body weight of 196 lbs., and a small-framed man the same height would have an ideal weight of 160 lbs.

There is no actual "chart". You must use your height, then measure your wrist to get the calculation formula to figure out your ideal weight. In the eHow version.0

I'm just odd I guess.
My fingers touch or even overlap a tiny amount so that would say small-medium frame.
But I'm 5'4" and the measurement is 6.5 inches which says large frame.0 -
this thing says I should weigh 105 lbs.. seems too low for me. :frown:
