Looking for feedback

My frustrations have set in with me not losing weight.
After taking a week off of exercise (was working out alot) and still staying within my calorie allowance I am just not losing. I was a daily weigher and stopped that. I had not weighed since last Friday and then was at 151.7. Today on Wednesday I was at 152.1 up 4 ozs.
I just dont get it. I started working out again the last 2 days by running and am drinking water.
I am not much of a meat eater and not big on veggies so my diaries show processed foods. I do allow myself sweets but always stay within my calories.
Why won't my body just let go. I am still considered "Overweight" at 5ft 4inches. I was 140 pounds last March but put on alot of weight after a job layoff. So I am trying to lose that.
There are so many with such good knowledge on here, I wanted to get some feedback and suggestions on what I can do to kick it in. I am heading to Jamaica in 61 days and want to look good in my bikini for the hubs :happy: We went there this past March and that is when I was at 140.

Whats your calorie intake for the day? If you are eating 1200 calories a day I would have a couple spike days (go up to maintenance calories). There are alot of blog posts on spiking days and they seem to be a good thing when you are in a slump. Good luck!0

I was at 1200 but I changed to the "Lose 1 pound a week goal" and I am now at 1330 a day.0

Hey there! I know it is frustrating. I would try to stay focused on lean proteins and minimize the processed food vi currently don't have a functioning kitchen and have had to eat a lot of frozen meals and take out. I was shocked at how much sodium I have been taking in which I know causes water retention. Keep on exercising and getting in your water and also focus on the quality of the food not just the calories. You are not far from your goal and as we know those last 10 lbs are the toughest. I won't be able to work out today, I teach at a University on Wed. nights so it is on off day for exercise. I need to salvage all of my 1330 calories0 -
Last time I went from 201 lbs to 145 then maintained at 150 I noticed that I would lose inches and not pounds sometimes. At first that would upset me. But I soon noticed my hard work paid off in the way my jeans and clothing fit. From a size 18 I actually fit into a 7 then maintained at a size 9 jeans. I am 5'7" tall. So don't get frustrated or upset with yourself. As long as you eat the amount of calories you should and workout on a regular basis you should see results in your body. Tell your scale to kiss it!
I stopped exercising one year ago to be exact and eating everything under the sun. I started this journey again weighing 187 lbs. My jeans fit better and I know I am on the right track again. So stay at it. keep it up. It will pay off.0 -
First of all you look great but I know where you're coming from we are our own worst critics. Believe me I know I am almost a little crazy when it comes to weighing myself especially when I have been really good. It seems like when I get like that and eat super good work out every day and don't loose I get so mad. :grumble: Stress does play a part on how your body functions and absorbs food. You know what your doing and it will come. I don't know if you ever read the book the secret but its a great way to think of things in a different perspective. Also agree with Kellsma. weighed again today I was down 4 ozs from yesterday, but still a lb over what I was a week ago. So still frustrated. Havent gone over my calories. I start with a trainer on Saturday morning so hopefully she can help me figure this out.0

Peaks and troughs and plateuas, your in a plateau at the moment, stop weighing yourself for 2 weeks, however tempted you are. Its just a body adjustment phase, you'll soon start going northwards, but if you keep on checking then the old adage of a "watch pot never boils" will kick in.

You seem to be on the right track to make your goal...just a note, from what I've been learning on MFP and in my own research, your current weight of about 150 is still healthy for your height...I am 5'5 and working to get down to the 150 range, I started here in Sept. 2011 at 179 and just weighed in at 164...I also struggle with a Thyroid disorder that makes it harder to lose the weight even with my meds. Good luck with your trainer, just don't give up, these things take time.0

My BMI calculator says I will be out of the "overweight" category when I hit 146. I want to be around 135-140 to be a little under the top of the healthy weight scale.0

Losing weight has so much to do with your diet. I am not at all perfect at my diet and am working on eating BETTER foods versus just 1200 calories of whatever. I100% recommend eating your carbs for LUNCH...none at all after 5pm. Also, drink more water. Your body will react in a positive manner if you feed it what it wants to be fed (healthy things). Another tip is to eat dinner earlier. I eat very early and even brush my teeth and wash my face early for bed...if my teeth are brushed, I don't crave late night snacks as much. Hope this helps!! Keep in mind that BMI is generalized statistics intended for broad population studies, and never really intended to be used on the basis of individual people. Because of the simplicity of it, it has been popularized, but it is always going to be a round peg in a square hole.
Your body frame type should be considered as well as your height. Some people have bigger or smaller frames and so are healthier or unhealthier than people of approximately the same weight at the same height.
How do you feel you look in the mirror (disregarding the anorexic models you see in the magazines)? That has to be the most important factor (when not unhealthily over or under weight).0 -
Sometimes it is a matter of time; meaning, when you are working out and drinking water and eating right your body may hold on to a few more calories until it understands you are going to keep putting good food back in your body.
I suggest you try a heathly protein shake so your body has something more sustainable to fule itself and can let go of of the quick burn fuel in your body.
Also make sure you are comparing how your clothing feels each week - sometimes the scale is not our friend but how our clothing fits is always honest!0 -
OK, after running 3 miles yesterday and doing a Zumba class last night for an hour and staying under calories I got on the scale this am just for a peek (Yes I know a daily weigh is bad) and I was exactly the same as yesterday morning.
So I started thinking on my drive to work. I am pretty much the same weight as I was beginning of December. Has my years of yo-yo dieting messed up my metabolism. Maybe my body doesnt lose when I eat the extra workout calories it sits more in a maintain mode. I am thinking about avoiding my exercise calories today and see what happens for experimentation purposes.
I have a very busy life with 2 jobs and a family plus trying to workout. So sometimes I dont always have the time to make good meals, so I have to go out alot and I just try to make good choices. I know I am not doing everything 100% right but I am doing the best I can with what I can do. I am a VERY picky eater. Not a big meat or veggie eater, but I can eat the heck out of fruit.0 -
Is it your time of the month, or the week before? I always put on 3-5 pounds of water weight around that time.0

If your not eating alot of veggies.. and your eating precessed foods.. your probably getting way to much sodium which will cause you to retain water and the weight wont be going anywhere.. Have you changed your settings to show sodium??? You would be surprised how much you may be eating without realizing it!0

I recently was going through the exact same thing. I was not going over 1200 calories, but I wasn't losing. I was still eating sweets as long as it was under my calories. Like you I am not crazy on veggies. I decided to get serious during January and have totally changed my diet. I have spent a lot of time researching diet...not crazy diets but stuff that really works. Web MD is amazing and has a lot of tips under the diet and fitness section. They tell you what foods to eat to boost your metabolism. I also checked out a biggest loser cookbook from my library and the some of the stuff is actually good! It said to eat a raw fruit, a raw veggie and a serving of salad everyday. I do that on top of my steamed veggies. I think that is what is helping the most. I eat an apple with peanut butter for my fruit, a raw carrot for my vegetable and I put a little bit of olive garden dressing to make my salad bearable. I can tell a huge difference. I have lost 5 lbs in less than 2 weeks. I have never lost weight that fast! I am also doing the 30 day shred.

Hmmmm...... This is my opinion, for what it's worth. I can't see your diary, but if you're not much of a meat eat and don't care for veggies, then that only leaves foods that are loaded with carbs. Fruit, grain products, etc all have a ton of carbs. Good carb, bad carb.... it's still harder to lose weight when your blood sugar levels are high. Your body only needs x amount of carbohydrate for energy and then it stores the rest. If you're constantly replenishing the carb load, then why would your body need to tap into it's fat stores.... even if you are eating within your calorie range. Try to increase the amount of protein and fat you are eating and decreased the amount of processed foods. And yes, grains like whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, and oatmeal, while good for you are still processed.0

I thought I had my diary set to visible, so let me figure that one out.
I can definatley say I am not getting enough protein with me not being a big meat eater. I do like salad, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers.
I guess I really just need to focus on somehow getting that protein in.
I do start with a personal trainer Saturday morning as part of a boot camp and we will be keeping food logs. So hopefully the combination of that and all the suggestions I get on here can help me get over this hump0 -
After seeing your diary.. looks to be alot of chocolate items.. and processed foods.. subway, chips.. I think this is exactly why your not losing.. sorry not trying to be harsh.. but if you wanna get serious you have to change your eating habits ..
Edit.. added note.. your sugar is always over.. and its the good sugar from fruit!
