I am thinking about starting this diet and was wondering if anyone can give me any tips or feedback? I am waiting for a book from the library so I can do a little more research, but the whole premise behind it makes sense to me. Although I am not sure if I can totally remove all dairy products from my life - cheese is GOOD!

If you search "paleo" in the Groups feature, you will find a handful of groups where you can read discussions and get specific info from those already doing it.
  • I just started Paleo about 3 months ago - so I am by no mean an expert and only follow the plan about 80% - I do eat cheese and dairy. Essentially you want to eat lots of meat, vegetables, nuts, fruits, no carbs and no refined sugar. Its totally doable and I guarantee you will love the results - I never really started noticing losses until I started Paleo. I also have IBS and it is completely non-existent on this way of eating. There are lots of great websites for food ideas : NOM NOM Paleo,The Crunchy Pickle, Growing up Paleo, Marks Daily Apple, Multiply Delicious, etc... to name a few!!

When you say no carbs - does that include carbs in fruits & veggies? Or just bread and grains?

    It is NOT no carbs..............

Carbs in this plan come from vegetables, nuts, seeds, dairy (if tolerated) and fruit. <<<<Preferrably in that order.

Check out these websites. They have enough information to get you started and then when you get your book you will learn the science and the hows and whys certain foods are not as good for us as the powers that be try to claim them to be.

I hope these resources will help you get started.

Works for me. For something more specific to your own individual needs, Chris Kresser's Personal Paleo Code is what I did before he marketed it and, unfortunately, I did it the hard way (before Chris and with my Coach) over a 2 year period of frustration and confusion. Now if I could do it all over again, I would just pay Chris the token he is charging for a premium service and get well and energetically healthy faster. Bye-bye fatigue, hello energizer bunny, LOL.

The best thing about starting from a Paleo template and crafting a nutrition plan to my own individual needs is how I have melted 10" of excess fat off of my chest, 5" off of my waist and 7" off of my hips while shedding 30 lbs net. The sexy, strong, functional new muscles look great and work well too! Did I mention that I am Happier than I have ever been in my life?

I'm currently on day 12 of a 50 day challenge. I've done a few Paleo Challenges. It is easier to do as a challenge for me because I know it isn't something I can live with forever. I can stick to it completely for a designated amount of time.

While on Paleo I feel great mostly because I'm eating a lot of protein, fiber and nutrients without any fillers. Because of the lack of fillers it can be difficult to make my 1200 calorie goal. The best part is my energy is higher and I sleep better. If only potatoes and rice weren't among my favorite foods.

  • Recommend researching Paleo thoroughly prior to starting in order to understand fully the concept behind it. As indicated, you most definitely have carbs in the diet.....and for someone like me (big runner).....a lot. The way I describe it to friends is:

Removing as much as possible, all major processed foods from your diet sticking to "high impact" foods that are fresh and natural as possible. "High impact" foods the opposite of "empty calorie" foods. Three books I found the most helpful were:

    - The Eat Clean Diet for Men (they have a general Eat Clean Diet book of course)
    - Everyday Paleo
    - The Primal Blueprint
If only potatoes and rice weren't among my favorite foods.

You have the hardcore Paleo....and the Healthy Compromising Paleo. :P I'm the latter. I include cheese, rice and potatoes in my diet but very controlled amounts.

    Best of luck,
