I have no idea what is going on!
I binged AGAIN tonight for the second time in 3 days!
This hasn't happened in so long, and I don't know what's going on!
That time of the month, maybe?
I feel really frustrated and a little out of control.
I logged my calories when this happened the other day, and let's just say, it won't take long to lose all my progress and gain back the weight.
Does anyone have any advice?
I really thought I had overcome this.
I'm feeling terribly sick and mad at myself for handing over the control to my cravings, when I know I'm the one in control!:grumble:
Thanks for listening.

Hi Olive,
The good news is, today is OVER! Tell yourself that tomorrow is a new day, a new start and don't look back. Ya know, we're all human, and on occassion, we're going to slip up. You can't let it get in your head. Just look forward and keep your eye on the goal.0 -
I wish I knew the answer. I've done the same thing. I think it's the time of the month. Plus if I don't stay busy it's too easy to grab a handful or bite of whatever (for me it's been cake) and eat it before I've realized what I've done. I do feel much more in control right after I exercise so today I tried to keep busy when I wanted to munch by playing softball w/my daughter. But then it cuts into my sleep (I work nights) and I want to munch to stay awake. Good luck and keep trying. It's taken me a long time w/lots of ups and downs but I've managed more downs than ups in my weight and it's slooowly coming off.0

There is always a trigger. Try keeping a diary of how you are feeling emotionally as well as when your cycle is. Is because you are hungry and don't wait to get full? I get extremely hungry the day after a hard workout.0

I'm feeling the same way tonight OB and am so glad you posted your thoughts. I got on hoping for some sort of encouragement and just knowing someone else out there feels the same way is comforting. I'm sorry you feel discouraged. But we have tomorrow. It will be a new day, a fresh start. Don't beat yourself up for past mistakes. Easier said than done, I know, but try anyway. Good luck!0

Well, Olive, first it happens. Let me tell you IT HAPPENS!!!!!!! I have put on and taken off my "Dreaded 15" so many times....
What I do when I eat WAY to much and was not smart...
1. Accept it...We are ALL human.
2. I brush my teeth BEFORE I think about hitting the ice cream (my weakness). I keep mouth wash right next to the snacks so I can do a quick grab and rinse my mouth (nothing taste good for at least an hour...)
3. I look at my food I ate for the day and look at my weight progress report...I like the downhill trends!! And also weigh myself, I hate to see the numbers looking back at me!
4. If I REALLY REALLY REALLY have to have it, I make sure I run it off before I eat it.
5. I put everything in single serving ziplock bags and write how many minutes of cardio I have to do before I can eat it (it works!)
6. I eat good complex crabs with protein in the day, it seems to make my mindless eating less.
7. If I have a slip up, I accept it...(It's life!) and start the next minute to get back on the wagon. If I say "Tomorrow I will be good..." I will usually keep eating. :noway:
8. Get my mind off eating if I am bored too! Call a friend, so the laundry, clean something (not in the kitchen of course .
9. I walk around in my "goal pants"... the jeans I promised myself I would wear by the end of summer...with out a t-shirt...still can't really zip up...let me tell you not a pretty sight seeing i have a baker's dozen muffins on top of the pants!! :grumble:
10. I write my goal down of what I want and why I am taking care of myself better than I was, over and over and over again!! (I want to do a pull up!!! I want to wear skinny jeans!! I want to see my abs!! I want Kelly Rippa's arms!! I want to have a space between my thighs!!! ect. )
Late night binges happens, figure out what you are craving and make sure you eat a balanced meals thought out the day and DON'T STARVE YOURSELF!! I always go crazy at night when I wasn't good to myself that day!
And, don't be so hard on yourself.... Just say "Right NOW I am stopping and back on track"...then keep track of how many days you have gone. Sometime when the number is high, you don't want to break it!!
:flowerforyou: YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
One thing that helps me to change the way I think about things. I remind myself that I am working on getting to a healthier life style, not dieting. If I don't think of depriving myself, eating what I want, just less of it. Then I find I don't binge eat.
As others have said. Tomorrow is a new day. Start again. If you feel the need to binge, go for a walk instead.

I think you're right about there being a trigger...
Anytime I want a "snack" after dinner, it rarely doesn't progress into a binge. I know this about myself and I seem to be patterned this way.
I've been feeling a lot of pressure too since I've seen such progress, and there always seems to be this voice in the back of my mind telling myself I can't keep it up forever.
It is a long battle with many ups and downs.
I know I value my healthier lifestyle above ANYTHING else, but some times I just feel like I wish I could just eat and eat!!!
I see the way my boyfriend eats...whatever he wants and not a pound gained! So skinny!
I know my personal best is the newer lifestyle I've adopted, and I feel it's important to hold yourself to what you're capable of.
Sometimes, I just want to give in!
But the 20 minutes or so of over indulging has lasting effects on how I feel about myself mentally and physically, and really can knock your confidence.
I know the best thing that I can do is get back to exercising tomorrow and move on to a new day.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and for everyone who can understand, please feel free to contact me if you need a buddy-system to help you out.
I have more good, healthy days than bad!

I'm just curious, if you go out running to burn off calories before you eat the junk, do you actually still want it when youget home, or by then has that craving passed?

Great advice, TIFF! Thank you for that.0

molsongirl - Sometime... If I really really really want something no amount of "other things" can get me to not eat it (insert ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!) So I go do spinning or running and kick my butt (read sprint intervals here). When I worked off enough cals for the treat X2 (yes, X2!) I let myself have it! I eat it with a very small spoon ... I just feel I enjoy it more if I eat it a little bit at a time! The tricks we do to ourselves right!?!
I got chocolate protein shake at GNC (really great tasting too!) that I mix in a blinder with ice and mint leaves. SOOo tasty and it can sometime curb my cravings! :drinker:0 -
Hi Olive
Just wanted to say that I'm going through the same exact thing right now!! It happens to us all & it's best to just keep logging & trying to exercise as much as you can to burn the excess calories. It's sooo frustrating when your body just wants more & more!!!
Try & stay positive!! :flowerforyou:0 -

Those are such great ideas, I'm definitely going to try them!0 -
So have I. I finally chucked the Chubby Hubby in the garbage.
If you're like me... you might a. need to increase the workout. b. get more sleep. c. switch your diet/ make it new and exciting. d. need a change of scenery. i mean... who doesn't want a vacation to relax and not stress? :laugh:0 -
Hi Olive,
I too struggle with "uncontrollable urges". However, I was watching a TV show a couple of weeks ago about this lady who had a serious binge eating problem (I realise that this was probably the extreme) and the consultant person had a really good idea for beating binges in the moment.
It was kind of a last resort (as in all the distraction tactics weren't working), but she had the lady go ahead and prepare her "binge meal" (in this case a cheesy pizza thing), put it on a plate, and then squirt dishwashing liquid all over it (completely covered). I thought it was quite a good idea - food drenched in detergent would put off even the most determined people I reckon!
Anyway, just a thought...

thank you Tiff, I copied and translated this list for having that when it will happen. It will be really ready. :laugh:0
