I didn't like PF because it was so packed when I went. and it smelled like sweaty grossness haha.
But, it's super cheap and if all you want to do is cardio, then join.

The ones I've been in are very nice, lots of machines and stuff. They usually have a deal to start and then it's just $10 a month. You can cancel at anytime but you do have to go in and sign a paper canceling it. At the year mark you will be charge and annual fee of $39.95 (or close to that) I've never heard anything bad. Hours of operation very from store to store. They're usually not open 24/7 but some are here and there. Going somewhere and having a routine that I do on a daily basis keeps me motivated. Good Luck.

I WISH we had a PF out here in the boonies. When I was living in the city, I went to one several times a week. I loved it. It's the sort of place where you look around and there is every body type there. They have something called the "Lunk Alarm" that will go off if someone is grunting/clanking weights to show off. They're very accepting, in my experience, and have nice equipment as well.

Have a brand new one in my hometown...open 24 hrs. A day from Mon.. Morn to 9pm on Fri. $10/mo. No frills. You bring your own towels and lock, but the machines are brand spanking new. I love it.

As long as your not a bodybuilder seems to be the policy. You haven't seen the commercial? It's hilarious.

    I dig it.

Mine is brand new and only $10 a month, no contract.

They have plenty of cardio machines and weight machines. Most have a 30 minute cardio/weight machine circuit that I happen to like. They have fewer free weights than most gyms. Some have restrictions on the max amount of free weight. I haven't seen this at mine though.

They are franchises, so your mileage may vary at each location.

They get a bad rap over the lack of heavy free weights, as well as the ban on bandanas and grunting. Like any gym, it isn't for everyone, but it certainly meets the needs of a lot of folks. Go check it out.

    Said commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FGZvFZdVbk

    So funny.

PF is fine for people who just want to get a good workout and keep to themselves. When I go back to the states to visit family I'll go there and lift and they've never given me a problem with what weights I'm doing so long as I'm polite and respectful to my fellow gym patrons and the equipment in the gym (which I always am anyway). For $10 a month give it a shot.

i have a pf membership. they mostly leave you alone and they have lots of machines. it's pretty no frills but is great for a person looking for a low key gym where there isn't a lot of people there talking about their pecs and oiling in the mirror. however, they have a very limited window during the month where you can cancel your membership if you want to, so make sure that you read your contract well.

I love the planet fitness that I'm a member at. Yes, it can be crowded sometimes, but most are friendly & you can't beat the prices!

Joined last week...10 bucks a month can't be beat. I am just using the treadmill now, the rest looks intimidating lol. I go early in the AM, and there are mostly older folks (like me). Staff looks like they don't do much. I would give it a try.
(It WAS scary walking in the first time)

I use to belong to PF. I left because there weren't enough machines if you wanted to use them, if all you want to do is cardio then it isn't to bad. It can really get crowded at times during peak times. They do have plenty of Treadmills. I just wanted more than a Treadmill workout.

It is a good place to start at because they want it to be a non intimidating place for people. It's also cheap... They don't have all the equipment I look for but you can't go wrong with the price

What gym have you seen this at? Sounds awesome. I'd like to join.

The ones near me have a once a year charge of like $30. Other than that with the deal it is only $10 a month with no commitment. Go and try it out, you can back out anytime none the worse for wear. I liked it a lot when I was going (I go to a different gym in the city now, but PF was quite good) but I ran into some problems because I tended to like lifting heavy.
