Low Blood Pressure

Hi everyone,
I went to the dentist the other day and they took my blood pressure. They said it was 112/58 and that the bottom number was a little on the low side.
Does anyone else have low blood pressure? If so, what are the side effects and how do you handle them?

I have low blood pressure and I can get very dizzy - especially in the shower, in steam rooms and in jacuzzis etc. As my body pumps blood to my skin to cool me down, my blood pressure drops.
It's the same after eating. The blood rushes to my stomach to digest the food and I feel faint.
I just keep the shower cool and sit for 15 mins after eating.
It's not the nicest thing in the world, but can be managed.

Hi, I also suffer from low blood pressure. I find it more annoying than anything else. I have hypotension, so my blood pressure drops when i stand up. I usually forget and jump up too quickly. I usually get very dizzy and my sight blackens for a second followed by blood pumping painfully through my head. Unfortunately there isn't really anything for it.My doctor doesn't like to give out medication for it unless absolutly vital. It also comes and goes, sometimes i don't notice it for weeks. I just try to get up slowly. You should get your doctor to check it out for you.0

I also have low blood pressure. Apart from 2 occasions, it has been very manageable. (Coincidentally had a massive faint exactly 2 weeks after the London Marathon in 2010, resulting in a fractured tailbone and then collapsed at work exactly 2 weeks after completing the Three Peaks Challenge in 2011. An ambulance had to be called, but I was alright. I think that was all due to stress levels and a bit extreme with the challenges...)
But other than that, as therebeccajones said, it can just be a case of taking it easy in certain situations to avoid dizziness. I get like it if I get too hot, in a sauna etc. or if I try and blow up my 3 year old nieces Ready-bed!! And sometimes if I haven't eaten properly before a work out...
Just make sure you always drink plenty of water and have some sugary snacks on standby! It's really not too much of a problem :-) x0 -
I also suffer from blood pressure and had been under few difficult situation when I felt dizzy in public and fainted :brokenheart:
I always have the upper one under the range of 95-109 and lower one is usually 55-70 never goes above that.
I have started feeling this problem after I did a lot of dieting for weight loss but now I keep my diet in control
My doctor told me to have Coffee twice a day and few family members told me to eat raisins and more salt ... (not extra but I usually have very less salt in my diet) I am in a habit of drinking coffee now and keep the raisins in my bag always with me .. my sugar level also goes down a lot of time .. all because of that crap dieting..
so I have improved that .. and no stress at all.. and keep measuring your heart rate if that is stable then its not a problem .. just maintain your diet well. Don't think about it too much its not abnormal!0 -

That is normal...!!!! I hate when dentists take your BP. #1 it may be falsely high..I mean you're at the DENTIST for crying out loud...and #2 they have no idea what they're talking about.
Symptoms of low BP are dizziness, especially when going from sitting/laying to standing, fatigue, sight going blackish, fainting, heart palpitations.........in healthy people can be remedied by increasing fluid intake..
Anyway, your BP reading you posted was normal and unless you have symptoms, don't worry about it.0 -
I suffer from low blood pressure as well and found out because I kept fainting on the train on my way to work.
I find that eating regularly helps and if I do feel faint or dizzy, I sit down for a few moments and take deep breaths until it passes.
My doctor advised me that there is nothing that they can do and it's a manageable, not treatable condition.0 -
Your blood pressure is perfectly normal, not low. Mine is 90/49 this morning with a pulse rate of 63. I usually run in the 70s/40s. That is normal for me. I have always had low blood pressure. I have no symptoms whatsoever.0

Hi everyone!
Thanks for the advise.
I do suffer from dizzy spells and feel faint often. When I gave birth to my last daughter 6 months ago my blood pressure dropped extremely low when I had the epidural.
Lately, I have been feeling very faint and dizzy. So, I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same.
I do drink a lot of water0
