A REAL dog (and cat and horse ...)-lovers' thread:
One of the things I love most about animals is the free entertainment they provide.
So ... let's tell stories about what makes us love them so.
I'll start with my neighbor's pit bull. He's pushing 80 pounds and only about 2 years old and the biggest baby you'll ever meet. Her roommate is a musician and was playing a gig one night when he overheard a couple guys wanting to buy the runt of a pit bull litter to use as a bait dog in their dog-fighting ring (nice, huh?). So, my friend and her roommate pooled all their cash and bought him instead.
I was over there a couple weeks ago and we were in her spare bedroom. PJ got up on the bed while I was standing about three feet away from it and literally took a flying leap at me like he expected me to catch him in my arms. It was a classic rom-com moment between me and a dog. :-)

Awww, I have two cats - Marlon and Gene. Marlon is very clever and also doesn't like me sleeping in. His new and dastardly method of waking me in the morning is to dip one of his front paws into the toilet bowl and then run the wet paw slowly down my naked back....0

Oh no! lol
My cats don't wake us up unless their food dish goes empty in the middle of the night. Then they find every possible way to make noise in our bedroom the entire night.
They might, you know, starve to death otherwise.0 -
Yup, free entertainment is big our my house! Two HUGE black cats, a poly-dactyl (Hemingway) with a serious attitude, a scaredy-cat (afraid of his own shadow) a little fluffy kitten that things he's a 50lb dog (and plays with the 50lb Boxer/Shepherd mix like he's the same size) and two very well behaved cats.

As in my previous post. I had a Springer Spaniel Boarder Collie(profile Pic), she was put down in may due to old age. She had the best personality. I remeber once i had stomach surgury and i was laying on the floor with her and I was having a hard time getting up.....she went underneath me and pushed me up with all her strenth. Lol. Another time I remeber is when i got my 1 st and only tattoo. I guess she could smell the blood but the way she looked at me was " oh, oh, your gonna get in trouble" i lived at home so that was many many years ago.
I now have a 3 year old Labradoodle and if i told you stories about him...you wouldn't believe me. He was best friends with my other dog. When She past away, his heart broke. Literally.
Even though i didn't want to but felt it was the only way to save Sam we went out and fell in love with Daisy our goldendoodle. sam and Daisy are the bestest of friends now.
Thanks for posting this thread...a lot better than the one this morning!0 -
There are few stories about animals that I wouldn't believe. I'd had and known so many over the years, I think I've seen it all. But then, there's always something new and unique about each one. :-)
The dog my parents had when I was born -- a white German shepherd who died when I was 7 -- saved my life three times when I was a toddler. She was SO SMART.0 -
Sam noticed i gave something extra special in his friends treat and not his...a gravel....which at the time i kept in my dresser draw. We left and went to walmart, when we cam back, we noticed Sam had opened my dresser drawer and helped himself to all the "treats" gravel, advil, a big toblerone I was slowely picking at, muscle relaxents. You name it he got it. Luckily, *kitten* monkey, he survived.
Another time we were gardening and were ignoring him, so he throws his kong at us. We still ignored him. He stared and analyized the situation. Somehow he grabbed the rake handle and started pulling the rake to him. The actual rake clipped the kong and he managed to get it. He is an analizer and an achiever. We always have to be one step ahead of him because he is to smart for his own good.0 -
The pit from my story and his "brother," Monte:
My friend's dog, Hunter, who likes to eat plastic cups:0
