Does anyone feel like they are becoming exercise freaks, i have never really been into exercising AT ALL! its totally out of my character but since joining this site i have been exercising once or twice a day, but now i dont feel like its enough so im uping my workouts to 3 times a day morning, afternoon and evening.
Am i alone on this or has anyone else gone exercise crazy?

I find myself making everything an exercise! sitting at my desk I flex my legs, and make sure to hold in my stomach, I do a couple squats everytime I go to the bathroom (and with all the water that works out to about 100 a day!!), while laying in bed I do leg lifts.
I also do my normal exercise and try to squeeze in some dance central just for good measure, but I dont think i have come obsessed with it yet.
Just make sure you dont overdue it. eventually your body will grow accustomed to that work out and you will have to work harder to get results. also make sure to eat back those exercise calories.0 -
I disagree with eating back exercise calories.
But yeah, I am addicted to cardio and weight lifting now. It is a must do.0 -

have you looked into changing your workouts, possibly to something more intense or upping the ante? This may give you a better feeling of satisfaction, and/or accomplishment (and hopefully results) without using up all your free time.......0

Nope, I've never once ate back exercise calories. I mean if it's working for you, then by all means you go ahead and eat them back.
I consume 1700-1800 calories a day.0 -
I've definitely always been a pretty sedentary person, but now that I'm used to waking up at the crack of dawn and going for a walk/jog/what-have-you (I'm doing C25K), I've really gotten into the headspace that I just don't move ENOUGH. I get antsy at my desk and take laps around the office.
I have random pushup or jumping-jack breaks.
I like it.
I do eat back all those exercise calories though. I would starve to death on a straight 1200 calories. :P0 -
I don't know I've never tried not eating them back...so next week I might try that. Hopefully I will be as successful as you have been...ill let you know :happy:0

What is your daily calorie intake goal, before eating exercise calories back? If you don't mind me asking.0 -
I dont mind, I need all the help I can get...right now it is 1730 to lose 2 pounds a week0

That's a good amount of calories. I think you would be just fine without eating exercise calories back.
Just make sure you do eat the full 1730 calories. Maybe try dividing the meals up into like 4-400 calorie meals, then maybe a 100-130 calorie snack a few hrs before bed.

Oh, and also, try to keep your sodium intake at around 2,000mg. Excessive sodium intake can make you retain anywhere from 5-8 pounds of water weight.0 -
thanx so much for the advice! I am going to try that next week and let you know how it goes. Right now I do stay below the 2,500 sodium but with all the water and the million times I pee I cant imagine I have any salt in me !! lol...but Ill shoot for 2000 too next week. Hopefully that will help! I desperately want to lose these last 4 pounds for my january goal!!

no im quite happy with what im doing, im exercising this much out of choice lol i just cant get enough of it, even if its intense0 -

im really happy someone has said that they dont eat back their calories and are still getting results! i dont eat back my calories and i didnt think that was a problem till i started reading on here that its a must, i feel like i can chill abit now when it comes to calories , one thing i think i do need to do is try harder to reach my calorie goal, seems like the only time i reach it is when i eat badly0 -
Exercise boosts your endorphins and gives you a "high", similar to great sex! But, also similar to sex, or anything else that gives you a high, you can become addicted/obsessed. I would say, if it feels good, is making you look better, and it's not interrupting anything else you should be doing in your life (like working, sleeping, eating, interacting socially, etc.) then keep it up and good for you!!! If it's truly becoming an obsession, consuming your thoughts, interfering in things you should be doing... or if your friends start telling you it is, then you might want to talk to a professional. Like anything in life, if it's TOO much, then it's not healthy. Good luck!0

There's activity and "exercise" and then there's training.
Things that are typically okay to do multiple times per day:
walking, dancing, cycling, low-mid level cardio, swimming, etc.
Things that you should probably NOT be doing multiple times daily:
distance running, weightlifting (heavy), or any other strenuous or high intensity training.
And more importantly, we all need REST.
The more activity you do or the more intense your workouts become, the more fuel you need. Keep that in mind. If you feel burn out or fatigue, there's a good chance you're not eating enough or not giving your body proper rest.0 -
