Always hungry!

I've heard from other users that it's normal to be feeling hungry all the time when you start reducing your calories. For me it's been a week. Is that true? Because I feel like I am starving myself. I take between 1600-1800 calories per day with exercise so I'm not even close to being below the mininum, but I probably used to eat around 2000-2500.

    This is the thing.

I looked at your diary, and if you are going to keep your calories low, you are going to have to eliminate the sugary treats. You can't afford a 300 calorie thing.

Also, instead of juice, eat a whole orange. Whole grain breads, not white breads. You want to get as much fiber as you can (whole grains and whole fruits and veggies, and nuts.)

Protein and fats should all add up too. The way to stay full on fewer calories is whole foods.

I agree with the second post - you need to eat foods that will keep you fuller longer. Protein, fresh fruit and whole grains are great. I get hungry every 2 to 3 hours but I never feel like I am starving myself. I eat 6 small meals a day so maybe that is why.
  • Veggies are great for this. A couple of hundred calories goes a long way with baby carrots or celery or whatever. Fruit is a little more calorie intense because of the natural sugar, but very good. Nuts (especially almonds) are great. Any of these things make very filling snacks that will help you last without feeling so hungry.

Any sugary snack or processed food snack may be tasty, but it won't be very filling. On a relatively low calorie diet that is a killer.

wondering the same sometimes, maybe not everyday. Choosing veggies, proteins and other fulfilling food with lower calories is good strategy but I have to admit they can be boring and tiresome and make one want to quit once in a while. :(
