I just used the BMR tool on here. It says my BMR is 1277. My daily calorie allowance before exercise is 1220. I am only 3 lbs from goal but how am I ever going to lose that if my calorie deficite based on these numbers is only 57cal/day. If I eat back my exercise calories I am barely in maintenance mode????

  • Your BMR is how many calories your body burns when it is totally at rest. You will burn at least several hundred more calories a day just being awake - sitting, standing, typing, eating, etc. 1220 calories is still enough for you to lose weight, don't worry.

    Thanks
  • I fear that even 1200 is low for you, have you tried different calorie calculators first. There's a good one at http://www.fredieting.com & another accurate one at http://www.fatcuda.com. Make sure you calculate your calories correctly as it will not do you any good to not eat enough calories.

I'm very comfortable at 1220 - I have had a steady weight loss averaging 1.4 lbs a week for 32 weeks. There have been weeks where there has been no loss or only .2 - .4 loss but I just keep at it and it has come off at a healthy pace. I am satisfied at 1200 calories and have way more energy than I did 8 months ago. I have a plan for maintenance once the last 3 lbs are gone. Figure that could take 5 weeks but I'm fine with that.

    Thanks for the advice.
