I am almost 7 weeks and I have it, badly. I try try try to eat but everything sounds repulsive. Although it is worse in the morning, its 24 hours a day. Anyone have any tips that helped them survive? I can't imagine 9-10 more weeks of this.

I had REALLY bad morning sickness during my 2nd pregnancy. All day, every day for the first 20 or so weeks. I couldn't keep much of anything down. Eating smaller, more frequent meals was what my doctor told me to do. It helped a little. Sorry you feel so

Congrats, and I hope you don't have it like I did-I had it for 7 months with 1, the WHOLE pregnancy with the other, so I'm a PRO! Ginger Chews by the Ginger People-I bought mine at trader Joes, candied ginger, ginger altoids, peppermint(candy canes), dum dum suckers, eating what seemed I wouldn't hurl-even if it was totally unhealthy--like burritos from Taco Bell. Do NOT let your stomach get empty. If smells bother you, buy an oil that isn't repulsive(mine was peppermint oil) and put a dab on a cloth or hankie and carry it with you in the grocery store and other places full of "flavor.0

I will have to try this for smells, they're the worst.0 -
saltines and B Vitamins helped me. Sorry you're so sick0

The red and white peppermints helped with my boy and sour candies helped with my girl. But yes eating every 2-3 hours helps a lot because your body wants that fuel for the baby.0

These little candy things called "Preggie Pop Drops" helped me SO much. Also, have some crackers or something light sitting on your bedside table, and eat them in the morning before you even get out of bed. Then let your stomach settle. Also try eating little meals, just more frequent. Being hungry can make it worse. Hope that helps!0

my ex step daughter had this but she also had some medical thingy. Dont ask me the name LOL....there was no cure for hers but time. We spend alot of time is hospital with her. She would get very sick and dehydrated. Once she got past the first trimester it went away. THANK GOD!! Good luck and hope u find a cure nothing worst then morning sickness0

Saltines help: try keeping some bedside for when you first wake up in the morning to nibble on. During the day I recommend frequent snacking even when you know it's coming back up! Lol it stinks really bad, but sometimes you have to just try lots of things before you find something that will stay in your tummy0

hypermesis0

yep that LOL0

I drank caffeine-free coke (full-sugar) before I even left bed. It helped immensely.0

Always have a full stomach - as soon as you get hungry it will get worse.
I always had pregnancy sickness - with my second child I went on "Diclectin" - it is a miracle drug!!!!
I am from Canada so not sure what it might be called where you live - but it saved me!!!0 -
Nothing really helped me but Sea Bands eased it a bit as did never getting overly hungry. I found the healthier I ate the better I felt (even though I was craving Chef Boy 'r Dee and sour candies). It's awful and it seems like it will never go away (and I have some interesting stories that I won't share) but one day you'll wake up and it will be gone. Just know that you're in good company.
Congratulations on your pregnancy.0 -
Congrats and it will get better! I had it 24hrs a day for the first trimester- I agree with keeping your stomach full. Munch on crackers, bread and I ate alot of soup. I didn't eat meals really, just snacked here and there. My dr gave me something to help curb it also (phenagrin or something I think) - that helped somewhat.0

And shop the perimeter of the grocery store as much as possible. Not because that is where the healthy stuff is, but because that is where the BAGS are--ask me how I know(produce section and meat section and some bakeries have bags!).0

Thanks so much ladies I just bought some b vitamins to add and I am keeping my fingers crossed!0

Zofran and phenergan got me through my 2 pregnancies. Good luck. With my girl, I literally puked every day until she was born. The zofran and phenergan made the difference between puking 8-9 times and puking 1-2 times a day.0

I didnt get the morning sickness at all with my first but had it pretty bad with my 2nd... peppermint candies, lemon candies, ginger tea, ginger ale and saltines. One of my friends had it super bad and she used the motion sickness bracelets and said that they helped a little but she was soo bad she became dehydrated all the time and was having to go to the doctor 2 times a week to get iv fluids. Good luck!!!0

nightmare!! I had it from day one until I pushed my first out! lol the whole 9 long tedious sick awful months lol! congrats though, it will be sooo worth it :-)
I found the only thing was to keep something in my tummy and if it made me feel sick thinking about it, I'd stay clear. marmite...wotsit sandwiches and sour things like lemon, unripe plums, they were what eased it a little. good luck xx0 -
Do twins run in your family? My sister was really sick in her first trimester and found out she was carrying twins. She ended up having to be hospitalized to get hydrated. The Dr said that's not too uncommon with twins. Be sure you are hydrated, as that is most important for you and the baby(ies?). :-)0

I had hyperemesis gravidarum, which is Latin for "24 hour vomiting for months until you start losing weight and become dehydrated to the point of needing hospitalization."
Dehydration can cause you to miscarry because it causes the uterus to contract. So even if you can't eat anything, please drink whatever stays down. For whatever reason, that was Gatorade for me. Fruit punch, Orange or Lemon lime flavors with lots of ice only. They gave it to me at the hospital, and it just worked for me.
I wish I had better advice, but once you get into the 24 hour sickness thing, all you can do is keep down whatever stays down. If you're trying to ingest your vitamins, you might switch to chewables until you're feeling better. Try taking them at night. None of the things people suggested to me worked. Peppermints, saltines, ginger ale - I threw it all up.

I had awful morning sickness and it ended up lasting right until the very end! I found the best thing to do was keep some sort of snack at the bed (my hubby would bring me in a nutrigrain bar every morning) and eat it before I even got out of bad. It was hard to force myself but I just ate it slowly. It didn't take away the sickness completely, but definitely made it easier. Congrats!0

i had hyperemesis as well. i threw up 11-31 times a day for 7 straight months with my first pregnancy and 5 months with the second. i was hospitalized several times for dehydration and once for super low potassium (the potassium drip BURNS like whoa). i was on a prescription drug, but i don't remember the name. it was not helpful.
strangely, what i could keep down was french onion soup; i ate french onion soup 3 times a week. applesauce was okay as well. bananas, toast and rice were recommended, but i couldn't keep any of them down. a lot of people said ginger ale was good for calming the nausea, but i couldn't drink it.
good luck. praying it will pass quickly for you.0 -
Diclectin has doxylamine, which is the active ingredient in Unisom SleepTabs, and pyridoxine, which is vitamin B6. One dose of Diclectin has 10mg of each - when I was pregnant with my second I would take half a Unisom and a B6. It did help, it just made me drowsy. I never vomited, but was so nauseated that I lost 12lbs between 4 and 8 weeks. I didn't start gaining back until I was about halfway through. I never wanted to eat. That at least gave me a bit of an appetite. I just ate whatever sounded good, which was pretty much green salads with sesame-ginger dressing, and spicy salmon rolls. (I know, I know, sushi during pregnancy, but I got it from a very reputable place and it was fine.)
If it is so bad that you can't keep food/drink down, ask for Zofran. It is very expensive, so most insurance companies will only cover something ridiculous like 6 pills a month, but you can get your OB to call them and have the limit lifted.0 -
I suffered with hyperemisis gravidium with all three of my pregnancies. I found what worked best for me after the first trimester (nothing worked during the first, even zofran, etc.) is to eat many small meals throughout the day basically never letting your tummy get empty. I found that a diet that is similar to the second phase of the south beach diet (low carb) worked best at staying on top of the nausea (thanks to a fabulous nutritionist I was referred to). Sugar tends to heighten nausea. When eating carbs make sure they are complex and eaten with a protein or healthy fat. Stay hydrated-drink lots of water (not juice) sometimes bubbly drinks helped sometimes they didn`t. Get lots of sleep, when I got stressed or overly tired the nausea became stronger. Before bed, eat a high protein snack-it makes mornings a little easier. Smells can trigger nausea and I actually wore a nose pincher for times when it got really bad. Carry nuts or protein bar some minty gum with you (and a gallon ziplock bag) when you start getting hungry it`s hard to get the nausea under control again.
Congratulations! I truly hope that the nausea does subside for you by the end of the first trimester.0 -
First off, congratulations!
Second, I have heard that SeaBands or the like are great. It presses down on the P6 pressure point, which is supposed to relieve nausea and vomiting. Also, spearmint and peppermint are great as well - try it in tea, candy, etc.0 -
Try candies you can suck on... Jolly ranchers were a life saver for me. I had it bad with all of my kids. Keep an eye on it... If its bad and you are losing weight and feel sick all the time... Your Dr can give you something to help. With my second I lost 20 pounds in the first 3 months. So I was given meds to help me keep food down. Good luck. Feel free to friend if you need some support.0

Definitely don't miss that about being pregnant.
I had it terribly, actually ended up in the ER for dehydration. Which, for some reason, all those pushed fluids that night really seemed to help.
Keep trying to drink water, ginger ale. Try the BRAT diet. Eat protein right before you go to bed (peanut butter and crackers or something) and when you wake up in the morning, get up slowly and have some crackers and ginger ale by your bed and eat some and drink some before you even get up.
Ask your OB about anti-nausea meds, they might help a little bit. Oh! And I think there are anti-nausea lollipops and ice pops too!
Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!0
