Hello,

I am doing P90X work outs, but I am not following the diet plan that they have set up to go with it. I am simply eating healthier, and staying under my MFP allowed amounts for calories and such.

Just curious if I will still see results with P90X, not following their diet plans?!

OH! And any success stories with P90X, please feel free to share :)

Thank you!

You do NOT need to use their diet plan to lose weight and see results.

P90X is just like any other exercise regimen...you do not need a specific eating plan to go along with it. You do need to eat fewer calories than maintenance to lose weight, and it doesn't matter what "plan" you follow as long as you are eating under maintenance and getting all your nutrition (vitamins, minerals, carbs/fat/protein, etc).

The P90X plan is a great place to start if you otherwise don't have a "plan" and feel that you need one to succeed since it is balanced and doesn't starve you. But to say that it's necessary to see results would be wrong.

I didnt follow the diet plan and I got good results. I obly got half way thru and then I got pregnant. I just watched what I ate
  • I've done P90X, but I followed the diet plan almost to the T. I went from a size 12-14 to an 8 in the 13 weeks program. If you do not want to follow the nutrition program for X, I would recommend you make sure you are diet is filled with lean protein, whole grains, veggies, and fruit. I would drink lots of water and make sure you try to eat your grain and fruit carbs before 2 in the afternoon to ensure your body burns as much of it as possible. It is also important to make sure with your workouts you eat enough calories to account for what you are burning and not go below your 1,200 minimum calories per day. Good luck!

As long as you control your portions you will see results. The meal plan in P90X is mainly designed to offer suggested meals you should consume during the program depending on your overall goal. The key factor in all 3 of the meal plans is the macro-nutrient ratios for each plan (for example, the fat shredding has you eating roughly 50% protein, and 25% carbs and fat).

Even if you don't following the meal plans to the letter (btw I didn't, got results and still do the program, even started P90X2 this year), I would still recommend eating as close to one of the three macro-nutrient plans. MFP allows you to modify your Protein/Carb/Fat percentages if you wish to customize your food plan.

As far as results, I did the first program twice, then started doing the workouts when I could not or didn't have time to go to the gym. Liked it so much, I bought the second series and like it even more. Good luck and feel free to add me to your friends and I can share more.

    Be well!
