Protein Shakes/Drink B Weight Loss!!!

I am needing some opinions on Protein Shakes/drinks. A good friend, who is a beachbody coach, did my macro's for me. She has my protein at 130 grams a day. Stating protein grams per day should be right around your goal weight. She has given me wonderful advice in the past & has gotten me to break through a couple plateau's! But I'm just concerned about a possible weight gain, while drinking this protein stuff - as I know bodybuilders, etc., at time use this as well to build muscle. And I know muscle weighs more than fat too....BUT do any of you use this stuff & what are your results? There is no way I could eat 130 grams of protein in a day!!! That's why I'm considering this! Thanks!

Im a weight loss surgery patient and i drink about 2 protein shakes per day.. Just try to besure its not to high in calories and carbs...I drink Adkins Advantage ...0

also...we are required to consume at least 60-70 grams of protein per day...fish is really high in protein and low in calories and fat..0

You won't gain muscle by drinking protein, if you are working out, you definitely need protein to help your muscles to recover.
My protein shakes (Da Vinci) are only 120 calories and 26 grams of protein. And, yes, muscle weights more than fat, but it takes up less space in your body, so when you gain muscle and lose fat you also lose INCHES! I'd rather lose inches than pounds.
Not sure at all about the volume of protein being your goal weight -- my goal weight is 130 pounds and I eat about 80-100 grams of protein a day. I work out 6 days a week.
I think this is somewhat an individual choice... .I know that protein is a little harder to digest - slows down your digestion, therefore speeds up your metabolism 'cause your body has to work harder to process it. I have seen recommendations to eat protein before you eat carbs - to keep your body from grabbing the carbs and converting them to fat. Not sure if that works or not.0 -
My doctor/weight specialist has me on a 30gr daily carbs and 90gr. protein in this first stage of weight loss. I buy OhYeah protein shakes (less calories and high in protein -low carb) either on line or in nutrition stores. 2-3 per day and one basic meal (mostly chicken and fisht) I also make my own shakes with a vanilla whey protein power, ice and other flavors. A good one is using diet orange insted of whater and 1 T of sugar free coffee creamer. So good! I buy chicken breast in bulk and season them, bake them and put in individual baggies in the freezer. Always have one defrosted when I want just a snack. Hope this is informative.0

I have great success with the Premier Nutrition- High Protein Chocolate Shake, shake from Costco. 160 calories and 30 grams protein. I drink it with in a half hour of my weight training work out.
Just an FYI, I tried that Visalus stuff and it made me gain weight for some reason, and it only has 12 grams protein.
Shrimp, when not combined with a saturated fat is good source of protein, as well as other fish.
It has been MY experience that the shakes assist me in the healthiest way possible when I drink them right before or right after a work out. I am not over weight so I do not use shakes as a meal replacement. I would rather get my nutrition from fresh, organic as possible and I can afford, food.0 -
Protein shakes are a easy way to get protein into your diet. That's it. You won't gain weight by drinking them unless you go way over your calorie goal.
And if you're not lifting weights or trying to gain muscle there's really no reason for you to be at 1g per pound unless you're on a low carb diet. For the normal person just looking to lose weight and diet, you don't need 1g per pound. It won't hurt you in anyway, but you don't need it.0 -
I use a brand called Bariatric Advantage for my protein shakes. It is a little more money then other shakes, but it is suppose to be one of the better ones out there. I have to get at least 60g of protein a day and one of these shakes gives me half of my protein in one serving0

You aren't going to gain muscle without substantial effort and it will take more than just eating extra protein. Generally you can't gain muscle while on a calorie deficit. There are a few exceptions, like newbie gains, however, that would be very minimal. That is why bodybuilders sometimes put on weight, because they are eating extra calories to build muscle. It isn't because of the protein, it is because of the calories.
Eating the proper food,.including getting enough protein, and lifting heavy will help you maintain muscle, which burns calories and makes you look better.0 -

and realize there's whey protein, and weight gainer, both are similarly packaged products.
On top of mad protein, guys gaining weight will eat double or triple their intake, which'll lead to muscle/weight gain..not necessarily WHAT they're eating.
If you get sick of drinking that much extra protein, you can easily slip it into oatmeal, pancakes, make sludge and/or freeze it. You can make a pretty decent fudgsicle outta chocolate whey.
I highly recommend it , mostly cause it's convenient, and keeps you from measuring or guessing amounts if you're making other food. The scoops and nutirition are very accurate and consistant.0 -
....BUT do any of you use this stuff & what are your results? There is no way I could eat 130 grams of protein in a day!!! That's why I'm considering this! Thanks!
By clean i mean: nondenatured whey from grass fed cows. Milk from grass-fed cows has many times higher levels of CLA (a healthy fat known to aid muscle building and fat burning) and contains a proper balance of essential fatty acids.
