Hi. I'm Britt, and I'm just now getting around to looking at the Community section of the site. I'm a 30 year old English teacher, and I'm trying to lose a total of around 90 lbs. I've set my goal of 2 lbs per week. I hope that's doable. I've tried dieting, but I'm not very good at it. I've lost weight on diet pills, but I put it back on...and then some. I decided to try to lose the weight the right way. I'm just cutting my calories. So far, I've met my weekly goals. I haven't been hungry at all because I haven't cut back on how much I eat--just WHAT i eat.
My real problem is finding the energy and motivation to exercise. I've lost 5 lbs in the past 2 weeks, but I know I could do even better if I would get off my butt and work for it. I'm looking for some people who are or have been where I am and can help keep me motivated. It seems such an impossible goal and gets discouraging at times. I look at the scales and think, "Sure. I've lost 5 lbs, but I'm still huge." I know that's not the attitude to have, so I need as much help as I can get.

I had the same problem, I was so big 5'3" and 245lbs.) it was hard to do anything, I had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Feb of last year and needed to get moving pronto! I decided to just go out and just walk and started at 1/2 mile (do less if you cannot do that). I would have to come home and nap for 2 hours I was so tired! After a few weeks though it became easier and I upped it to 3/4 mile and over time just upped it as I felt better and getter. I really have not changed to much of what I eat except for not a lot of desserts and I cut out all sugary drink. I can now walk 4 miles, 5 days a week and have lost 62 pounds. 38 to go to my goal. I am hoping by the end of the summer to get there. I will have a more to go after that but needed a goal to aim at. You can do it, just getting started is the hardest part. Forgive yourself for the bad days and start again the next day. Best of lick to you!!0
