Hi I was wondering if anyone could help.
I have been using MFP for just over a week now
I understand that you have to eat healthy as well
As exercising regularly. I have been sticking to my
Calories but having naughty things like chocolate
And chips from time to time, is this ok ? I'm always
Below my recommended calories still?

Thanks for any help x

As long as you can have them in moderation and fit within your calorie goal they are a treat most people can have every once in awhile. If they are a trigger food that will make you want more then I would stay away from them.

    if you're licking it off someone it's naughty...oh wait...that's good. I get confused :)
  • I feel like if you deprive yourself of certain foods you'll want it more so maybe you can have a piece of chocolate or whatever you want to indulge in once a week. Even if you stay within your calorie limits you want to try your best to have wholesome foods. Everything in moderation :)

This, for me, highlights the difference between dieting (which is what I did in previous versions of trying to lose weight) and a lifestyle change (which is what I've done now and why I'm confident I'll be successful).

Nothing for me is off the menu - it just needs to be in moderation, within my calorie count and within my macros. If I want ice cream or chocolate for dessert, then I can plan for it throughout the day, make some other particularly healthy choices and I'll be fine - it's kept me sane. Ditto with whatever else I'm craving. But I find that I'm craving the really naughty "junk" far less the longer I go on.

I also log foods BEFORE I eat them which really helps me to moderate the impulse foods.

I do the same, i have lost weight. you just have to watch it, watch the sugar and fat too. But hey we are only human and everything in moderation. I find by allowing things from time to time, I don't feel as restricted and therefor don't blow out.
  • I have chips and chocolate occasionally, but I have very controlled portions. I only buy the 100 calorie bags of chips to help me limit my portions. When I want chocolate, I will eat one or two Hershey's kisses. I probably have either chips or the kisses once a week or so. As long as I allow myself a little of the " naughty" foods, I don't feel deprived and tempted to bing on junk.
  • I believe as long as you can fit it into your calorie goal it's fine. I've tried diets before where I restricted myself to only "healthy" foods and just gained every bit back plus more. This is exactly why I love this plan so much, I feel much more "free" to eat what I love.
