I did WW back in 2004. My start weight was 143.6 (clothes on of course) I got to what they had set for my "Goal Weight" of 128.0 in 8 weeks. Then kept it under the 128 for 6 more weeks to become a LifeTime member. My lowest weight while on WW was 114.4. I'm planning on going back when I get under 128.0...so I can do it for free.
I know that they have changed up the program some since I was on it. But I'm also using my "old" WW stuff, logging my "points" and logging my food and excerise here. I really liked the WW program...am looking forward to going back.0 -
I did Weight Watchers about five years ago and lost 60 lbs. in less than a year. Unfortunately, when money got tight and I couldn't go anymore I put it all back on and then some in just under two years. Other than the meetings, I'd say it's pretty similar to what you're getting here for free.0

I did weight watchers for a while and am actually a lifetime member now. I just have to get back to that weight so I can go back to meetings once a month for free0

I just cancelled my weight watchers membership, but before that discourages you, I did NOT quit because it didn't work. It DOES work. I was a member for 2 years and lost 50 pounds. I found a lot of support through weight watchers. I only did the online version but I know many people find the meetings to be very effective. In fact having face to face support really would have helped me sometimes.
I have not put back on any of the weight and actually still "follow" the program, only using this site to track my food instead of the weight watchers site. I made a lot of my WW buddies facebook friends so we keep in touch there and support each other through FB now. I think I just quit WW because I have this new lifestyle kind of ingrained in my brain now and I don't need to constant support. But I wasn't secure enough to give it up totally so that's why I came over here.
Just like here the really really important part of the weight watchers program is to TRACK EVERYTHING. Every little bite you put in your mouth.
Good luck and I hope you find some great support there!0 -
I lost 30lbs on WW in 2008 and have been a lifetime member there ever since (although I did have to re-lose 40lbs after my daughter was born, I also did that with the help of WW). I felt like I learned some great healthy habits through using the program, but it's not as comprehensive as what you can do using the MFP online tools. The benefit of course is having the weekly meeting and weigh in as well as a group of people cheering you on each week.
I went into it thinking there was no way I'd ever be able to lose my extra weight and I lost it in about 3 1/2 months. That was the push I needed to start living a healthier lifestyle.
I'm a huge WW fan.0 -
I did it a few times and loved it when they had the Flex Plan. Now it is called Points Plus or something like that. I joined last year for the last time and did not like the new program at all. I found I was eating more than I did before on the old program (they changed the point values for the new program). It was so difficult to get my daily point intake and I was losing weight much slower than I had on the old program.
That said, I am sure it may be different from person to person. I was comfortable with the Flex Plan, and still to this day remember point values for certain items. I was not happy with the change. I did learn a lot from the meetings about portion control and behaviours and such, so it may be a good learning tool.0 -
thanks everyone! I hope it works for me like it did for you all!0
