Heart Rate

just want to make sure that this is normal. I have a fairly low resting heart rate (63) but it's super sensitive! Within a minute of running on the treadmill at 6-6.5 mph, it's already up in the 180s. Throughout my spin class, I struggle to keep it UNDER 180 for the entire hour of it. I don't feel sick or anything when I exercise but occasionally I do get chest pains :ohwell: Should I be worried? I'm in good shape and exercise regulary. And Im only 19

I'd be interested to hear about this too, since I have a similar thing happening. Quite low resting heart rate, but it jumps up pretty quickly.
Does yours drop back down very quickly after you finish?0 -
It drops down really quickly once I'm done, but throughout my workout from start to finish it's WAY up there0

Im interested too. Mine goes from 58 to 168 pretty quickly.. Then when I'm done it goes back down very quickly0

If you are having CHEST PAIN.. talk to your doctor about it, they can do a stress test and run an EKG on you. CHEST PAIN is never a NORMAL thing. That is something you shouldn't be playing around with. if it is no big deal, I would rather get that info from a DR after some testing than someone on here that doesn't know what they are talking about. Just a thought.0

I do occasionally get chest pains, but my DR checked those out and said it was just my heart doing something or other that I can't remember what it was. It was nothing to worry about though -- I get the same thing in my legs (to the point where I can't walk & am in tears).
As far as my heart rate goes, my dr said because I wasn't having any other problems it was fine. I just have to have somebody with me afterwards in case my heart rate "crashes".0 -
i'd see your doctor anyways to rule out any other heart arrhythmias or disease. But there is a thing called exercise ventricular tachycardia. it is common and non life threatening in those who have healthy hearts. But can be life threatening in those with heart problems. If you continue to exercise, perhaps just lower your intensity to keep the heart rate down, until you can see the doctor to rule anything serious out. more than likely its normal and you will be fine.0
