Popcorn is the carb devil

Just been reviewing my nutrients for the last 4 months and noticed a huge blip in my carb intake from a Friday night back in December. I thought, what could this be?? Must be a night on the booze. But no! It was a night at the cinema. The fiancee and I bought premium tickets to a private area which includes a mini bottle of wine and a large tub of popcorn - we had one each to ourselves! Got home and realised although I had only had 1,600 carbs that day, that tub of popcorn alone was 600 carbs.
I am generally sworn off carbs for years now and my daily target on MFP is now only 90 per day. Haven't eaten pasta, rice or pizza more than 3-4 times a year. And I avoid my beloved bread as much as I can, little more than a few times a month. But I can't go to the cinema without popcorn.... Well now I guess I will have to.
Anyone know any alternative snacks that are good at a film.

You're there to see the movie, not to eat. Why not just eat a satisfying dinner before you go? Or have a SMALL popcorn?0

When my girlfriends and I go to the movies we eat a big meal first out. It saves us money at the theater( large popcorn and drink $12.50!) and it keeps us full so we don't want to eat the popcorn. Once in a while one of the ladies will order popcorn and we share it but I have been good about say no or just taking a handful. I am a popcorn junkie and this is hard to do but gotta look at the bigger picture.0

BTW-
I looked in your diary and that entry HAS to be incorrect. It says your popcorn was about 900 calories and almost 600 carbs.
1 gram of carbs has 4 calories. 600 grams x 4 calories = 2400 calories. There is no way that popcorn had that many carbs. If it were ALL carbs, which is pretty much is, aside from a bit of fat or protein, your 900 calories / 4 calories (which is the amount in 1g carbs) = 225 grams of carbs.0 -
Good point Emily. Just checked against a similar size popcorn on MFP (odeon) and it was only 137 carbs but 812 cals.
Either way it's not good for you!
Thanks all.0
