No Dairy/Wheat/eggs/citrus... HELP

I have had a really bad food allergy for the last month. I can't get in to a specialist until October so I went to a naturopath.
She has taken me off dairy, wheat, eggs and citrus.

My question is...wtf do i eat now. lol

So i'm still good for chicken, veggies, some fruit, rice, beans. (I don't eat red meat)

My main concern is breakfast. I have to take a scoop of Selekta Clear (as per instructions) every morning but I can't have cereal, oatmeal, yogurt (I can have soy yogurt but I haven't found any yet), toast, .

She suggested a smoothie but i dont really know what to put in it. I have frozen berries, what else do you normally put in it? ( i go to booster juice sometimes but they have yogurt in theirs and i can't have yogurt :(

Any suggestions for breakfast, or any other meal would be super helpful

    And if you feel better after, which food was the culprit? I have nothing against naturopaths but it seems like they put you on the program. Of course you could have eggs one week, then cereal, then some dairy and save yourself some money in the future.

    Look up Glutin Free Diet. It can be hard and a little costly but this is prob what you will be put on anyways so might as well get used to it. There are alot of cook books that you can get also that can help and look on Allrecipes for glutin free.

    Wow a wait until october seems like a very long time but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Is the plan with the naturopath to eventually add back that that was taken out slowly or do you think you will be like this for a while?

    In terms of what to eat can you eat fish?

    Tuna fish with chickpeas and vinegar and some dried or fresh herbs either eaten as is, in a salad or use lettuce leaves as the bread



    Breakfast: soy or almond milk, berries, bananas. Maybe add ground flaxseed if you can eat them. you can also add silken tofu to a shake.
    Kind of crazy but they do make soymilk icecream, eat that with some berries or other non citrus fruit

    There are rice and coconut flours in existance and you can make pancakes or waffles with them. research them if you can eat them I know that there are recipes using them.

    The idea is to cut it all out for 2 weeks, and see if i get better. If I do, it's one of those 4 and I can start adding them back in slowly one at a time afterwards.

    If it's not one of those I might have to go get a food panel done which is $400 so this the cheaper way to go for now.

    Oh and as for seafood, tuna i could have for lunch (thanks for the idea, tuna slipped my mind) but dinners my husband hates seafood.

    I'm finding that more larger grocery chains are starting to carry soy or coconut yogurt.
    Tofu can be made up as a scrambled egg substitute, you could also go for some yummy breakfast tacos. Use a firmer tofu for eggs, just add some turmeric to make them a little yellow. Silken tofu can be used for smoothies, I would assume that if you flavored it you could use it a little like yogurt.

    Thanks. I'll have to try some different grocery stores, the one by my house didn't have any.

    For breakfast i'm looking more for smoothie ideas since I have to have a scoop of this rice protein stuff and it's vanilla-orange flavoured.

    I never really ate eggs as eggs, the egg thing just pisses me off because eggs are in EVERYTHING lol
    I had to read like 10 bottles of salad dressing to find one without dairy or egg

    did she take you off dairy because of the lactose? if so, try to see if you can get "minus L" products. They are milk and yoghurt without the lactose that many people are intolerant to.

    edit: you could also look into vegan recipes to see what can be done without dairy and eggs.

    I try to keep a bag of frozen bananas in my freezer at all times. They cool the smoothie down without ice and help it to have a really creamy texture, plus they are super sweet. I'd think that banana would go pretty well with vanilla-orange. They go amazingly well with chocolate flavored protein powder.

    They offer alot on the vegan section which would be everything you have an allergy too, I know they have ALOT of soy yogurt
    They also carry salad dressings that are vegan so no eggs milk ect.
    They also have a product called Energ Egg replacer that you can use in place of eggs in just about anything that you need to bake or cook..

    For the wheat you could always buy soy based products
  • Also if you use tofu for smoothies mark sure its silkin tofu, and make sure you drain it or it wont adsorb the flavors of the fruit or smoothie

    I'm in Canada. We don't have trader joes or whole foods. I'll need to go to Nature's Fair (grocery store) this week. It's snowing like crazy out so I didn't go today. But thanks for the tip, I'll need to look more at vegan recipes.

    You may have to do a lot of making your own food now. There are a lot of recipes online about making your own salad dressings. In terms of the breakfast thing, why don't you think outside the box and have dinner leftovers for breakfast? I lot of times I do that for convenience sake, and it's not bad at all. Keeps me full longer. I eat a lot of lentils and rice, or beans and rice, with vegetables. I was inspired by cultures around the world as I have traveled, and many other people eat the kinds of foods in the morning that we don't think are very breakfast-y!

    Grits! Why didn't I think of grits?
    Grits make a wonderful breakfast porridge. Sometimes I put sausage in mine (vegetarian sausage too) or just lots of black pepper. You can make them as thin or thick as you like, sweet or savory.

    I can't have gluten/wheat, and recently confirmed that dairy is a big fat NO for my body too, so feel free to check my food diary for ideas.

    I make my own gluten-free breads and rolls, and it's possible to make them egg-free also. Check out the Simply Organic mixes available at Whole Foods or a similar natural foods oriented market in your area. They have gluten-free mixes for all kinds of yummy stuff and almost always have an egg-free recipe variation on the package too.

    Also, Silk makes a pretty good soy yogurt that I like to swirl into my smoothies. If you look at my breakfast today, most of those ingredients were in a smoothie. I put the soy yogurt and nuts on top and have a couple of pieces of turkey bacon with it, and I'm good to go. Note the vegetable-based protein powder - not whey - since I can't have cowmilk protein.

    No no, she's legit. lol

    I know someone who went through the same thing i'm going through and she had to do the same thing.

    Even if I could get in to the allergy specialist right now, everything would show up as an allergy because I'm already covered in hives. Any little scratch and hives appear. So I basically have to wait for it to get better before I figure out what it is.

    My husband hates....well cant eat shellfish and just doesnt like fish but he tried blackened talapia this week and liked it....might try a light white fish like that and blacken it....he might like it....just cook it about 3 mins each side...the longer you cook fish the "fishier" it will end up tasting.

    Or according to their website they do.
    They have some in the BC area and in the ontario area.
    Not sure where you are but they have I think 3 in ontario and 4 or 5 in BC

    Quinoa is a great idea as well. The recipe section here has a HUGE thread with recipes

    Also-if you are not supposed to have citrus, why is the powder citrus flavored? Because if you read the ingredients and it says "natural orange flavor" you ARE eating citrus--DAILY!

    The oats thing apparently has more to do with them being made in a gluten facility so apparently I'm to avoid them.

    The rice protein does have natural orange flavour but Im guessing the amount from that and the amount from eating oranges is significantly different? I'll have to ask her about that.

    Was not a fan of quinoa the first time I had it, I'll have to give it another shot :)

    In Canada, the title Nutritionist IS protected by law, and it seems a moderate amount to cut out.
