Toning and Tightening

Options
Okay, well I am stopping my weight loss for a bit. I think I lost too much weight too fast and I am very flabby. For a while, I want my focus to be on TONING and TIGHTENING and then I'll continue losing weight after. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to tone in a more efficient manner?

"Toning" is the result of two things happening together. Increasing muscle mass and lowering body fat. You can increase your muscle mass by lifting heavy weights and you can reduce bodyfat through adjustments in your diet.

The best, most succinct explanation I've ever read. This, this, this. And this isn't done through lifting a light weight for many reps - push yourself with heavy weights (heavy of course is relative) at low reps. Free weights, compound movements.

    Get bigger, better muscles.

    3 different ideas:

    1. the book: New Rules of Lifting for Women

    2. nerdfitness.com

    3. Nike Training Club, "get strong" (ipod app: http://www.nike.com/nikewomen/features/howitworks?locale=en_US)
