Moderation? I need your help.

Going to have pizza tomorrow, and I plan on have two slices with two cups of spinach...I am just going to give the third slice to my sister or something lol.
should I just have one and spread the rest out? Or just eat two because I rarely eat pizza. Moderation is really confusing for me...
How would you define moderation? It's hard for me to really define it. I always eat 1500 calories daily and, since I'm a teenager (give me a break) I eat one serving of a snack almost every day, whether its a cookie or something, but I never allow it over 300 calories. Probabaly only 200 more or less.. That's it though, and if i eat a main dish...well I rarely do that. I eat it with lots of veg and I keep everything else normal.

Here is a relatively good article about the definition of moderation and how to apply it to food.

One of the hardest things to achieve in life. Good luck.0 -
Everything in moderation, including moderation.0

It is all about balance and finding the healthy balance for you. I personally don't cut out pizza or anything, I just make choices about which pizza or what not I eat... choosing to eat what satisfies my body's needs AND I enjoy. I LOVE food and I will not give the good stuff up up, but I will adjust how I get to the good stuff... but each person has to determine what that balance is for their health and their life....0

We use to have a pizza night every Saturday. I would plan ahead and have 2 pieces.0

If you choose to take the whole day off and eat whatever you want tomorrow, you are only doing it in moderation because you usually eat with discipline. One day off won't hurt.
I ditto the comment above that says even moderation in moderation. Give yourself a day to just enjoy the pizza without overthinking it. It WON'T do any damage.0 -
I usually only eat real pizza on my "free day", and I eat about 2500 calories worth easy in one meal - LOVE IT!
Moderation is fine and dandy 6 days each week, but if I tried to nibble pizza, it'd just make me want to kill myself.0 -
If you are doing well in your plan, don't sweat the pizza. An extra piece is not going to derail you. As mentioned earlier, everything in moderation including moderation.0

Sounds like you have a good plan - 2 pieces sounds reasonable, moderate, "normal".0

Drink a glass of water. Eat a slice of pizza and salad. Then chat a little while and ask yourself how do you feel? Are you satisfied? Do you feel really full? If you decided that you want the second slice I would cut it in half and then go from there. 2 slices is ok. Pizza is ok once in a while i.e. twice a month. And it's ok to go over your calorie limit once in a while. If you think that you are going to have a 3rd then plan an extra work out.0
