So everyone gives me compliments on how good I look when I lost weight and its making me cheat a LOT. How do you deal with this? I was way more motivated when I avoided people and focused on working out haha.

I totally know what you mean, I too feel its ok to cheat when someone gives me some kind of compliment . Kinda a form of self sabotage. Just keep your eye on your goal and don't let 'their' comments give you "permission" to cheat. You've worked too hard to just give up from a false sense of completion. They don't know what you've been through to get where you are today..... I say...give'em a wink & a smile and just keep on logging & runnin'0

I also know what you mean. That has always given me permission to eat whatever and how much. I am learning to say "Thank You for noticing" and let go at that. Then Change the subject. :flowerforyou:0 -

The compliments aren't making you lose motivation. YOU are choosing not to be as motivated. Accept the control over your own motivation, and realize that nobody and nothing outside of yourself is actually affecting your drive. It's your reaction to those compliments that's causing the issue, not the compliments themselves. So instead of saying to yourself, "Yeah, I'm doing pretty awesome! I'm gonna go have a pizza," say to yourself, "Yeah, I'm doing pretty awesome! I'm going to keep it up! Where's the gym?"0 -
Just think about how you got to where you are! You didn't make this much progress by slacking off; you worked your butt off! Keep it up to keep the progress. They aren't giving you permission to cheat, they're giving you motivation to continue!0

Yeah I just need to re-focus and realize that I'm doing this for me and not others... actually every time I lost weight before and re-gained it was because I lost the weight to impress other people.... and then I got comfortable and started eating badly again.. I need to realize that this is for my health and not just for vanity

Think how many more you'll get when you're down to your target weight, with people falling at your feet and swooning.
That last part may be just what I imagine though...0 -
