I am pissed. :grumble: Could someone please explain to me how I now weight 115 pounds? How is that possible? Last week I weighed 110. What is the point of counting calories, sticking to the plan and exercising if I gain weight? 5 pounds! That is almost a 5% weight gain on less calories and more exercise. What the heck?

    Weight fluctuates with your cycle even when it appears to have stopped!

    looking at your food diary - its kind of all over the place. most days you net really low and other days youre over.. maybe try being more consistent? eat your exercise calories when you can and try to net 1200..
    have you started a new workout routine? are you doing any strength training? have you tried tracking your sodium? is it ToM? i dont know that you actually gained 5 lbs of fat. it might be a combo of a slight gain, water retention, and natural fluctuation

    I was wondering if you could help me understand why it is important to be consistent? Don't the calories just average out in the end?

    i suppose it depends on if youre looking at it on a weekly or monthly average. but looking at last week (monday through sunday), you were 2939 under what your net goal was for the week.
    for me it helps me average out more each week if i eat more consistantly. i dont know that its really necessary, it was just a suggestion.

    You may not be eating enough if you are coming in almost 3000 calories under your target for last week! Even though you think eating less will help you lose, it can turn into the opposite at a certain point. If you eat far too little you will actually gain weight as your body is holding onto everything you put into it.

    You could also be losing fat but gaining muscle which could account for the increase in weight.

    Another thing by looking at your diary you are barely getting any fruits and vegetables. You need to be eating those to have a healthy diet.

    Everything you have tracked are you actually measuring it or just "eyeballing" it? Actual portions of things are nuts compaired to what we think a portion is. Are you over estimating the intensity of the exercise you do?

    Thanks. I am trying to underestimate my exercise intensity. Swimming on a masters team is very intense. I swam 4000 meters Saturday, breathing hard the whole time, heart rate up for 1 hr 45 minutes, and could barely lift my arms afterward. Last Sunday I skied in the backcountry, carrying a 35 pound pack, and went uphill for several hours before skiing down. I hope I am not overestimating. It is definitely possible though.

    As far as fruits and vegies, sometimes I get lazy and don't type them in, especially if it is lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, things like that. I should eat more though.

    I used to measure things, now I eyeball it. I will start measuring again to make sure I am correct.
