I was the same after my 2nd . . . It was a surprise party my boyfriend threw me with a giant pic of me in a purple nightgown for people to sign that read "Happy Birthday Grimace" up until that day I never knew who Grimace was . . *mcdonalds character*
I decided to find my weak points like chocolate . . . I have to have chocolate or I eat everything trying to fill that chocolate void. so now I have either Skinny cow or chocolate popsicles in the freezer so I don't deprive myself.
I also realized I didn't want my children to have to struggle with their weight and started making better choices at the supermarket to keep those urges to eat junk at bay. I cut out alot of sugars, uped my protein and fiber.
I am Italian so the hardest was cutting out Carbs. Sooo hard to do. but I make just enough mashed potatoes for the kids and my husband so that once their plates are made there is only like a 3rd of what i would normally of eaten.
Its a lifestyle change for the better and you will find a lot of good tips on here im sure!!

Someone gave me some good advice today and I'm going to pass it along. She said that I needed to work on defining myself without food. I started out with an emotional eating problem, then I became obsessed with a healthy lifestyle and right now due to extraordinary stress in my life, I'm beginning to go back to emotional eating. When she said it, it really made me stop and think. Even a "HEALTHY" obsession with food and fitness is still an obsession. Although I will agree that replacing bad behaviors with healthy behaviors is a step in the right direction, it's still obsessive behavior and that, in and of itself, is unhealthy.
So my advice to you, try not to become obsessed. Instead, try to define what you want out of life and who you are or who you want to be and then put a plan in place to work towards it, knowing that the path will not necessarily be a easy or a straight one.
Starting today, that's what I'm trying to do.
good luck to both of us!0 -
Well, I respectfully put forth my objection, lessertess. I've been on both sides of the spectrum, as I'm certain everyone has, and I will take being obsessed over my health ANYDAY. Once you end up in the hospital at the age of 40 with possible heart attack, you tend to look at life in general in a different way. We who are "obsessed" should be called "observant" instead. We are people who have lived life and learned hard lessons from mistakes made in the past.
I know, I know. Everything in moderation. I'm not saying that you have to be "freaky" about living healthy but, on the other hand, when you start sliding, you HAVE to be aware of what you are doing to yourself. All I'm saying is it doesn't have to be all or nothing but being healthy is hard. Whatever it takes, right?!0
