The answers seem so easy. yes, yes and badly. But bad enought to work at it. I mean REALLY work at it. Life seems to be passing me by. I want to LIVE, to have fun, and enjoy life.

You and I have a lot in common. I'm also 39. I have two kids (but I'm a busy single mom). And my goal is to lose 159 lbs. That would put me at losing half of my original body weight, and I have less than 60 lbs. to go. When I hit the 100-lb. mark at the end of December, I just couldn't believe it. Know that you are worth the effort, and being around for your family is worth the sacrifice!
Sending you a friend request in case you need the support.
Good luck!0 -
To really do this, following a very simple plan toward goal attainment is helpful.
1. Is this really "your" goal, really?
2. Why is it your goal?
3. Do you have a picture of you or someone else at your goal weight that you can paste to your mirror to reflect upon each day?
4. What tools, books, tapes/recordings, mentors, supporters and accountability partners will you enlist to help you get there?
5. What are the real benefits you'll enjoy from losing 150Lbs? Dramatically better health and life expectancy, easier to exercise/run/jog/do almost everything, new clothes, endless stream of compliments, inspiration to others to join you, lower life insurance premiums, much more motivation, etc. Spend much more time listing out your benefits, as a devout focus on the benefits is what you'll need to win.
6. What are the pitfalls, challenges, negative voices/influences that have tripped you up in the past that will most likely come back to haunt you again?
7. Using MFP, losing 1-2 Lbs per week is doable and is easiest when you have the most to lose; 1LB per week more pragmatic as you get closer to your goal. Losing 2LBS per week for the first 120LBS, implies 60 weeks or about 14 months. By starting today, you can get nearly there by next Spring (2013), and then go to 1LB per week for the remaining 30LBS, meaning by Fall/Christmas '13, you can be there.
Other suggestions: Heart Rate Monitor allows for better calorie tracking when exercising. Eat all of your exercise calories! Try to work up to exercising 1x per day, everyday, even if one day is a 20 minute walk. Join a gym -- working out at home is too easy to pass on -- having gym friends that are expecting you to be there/get there at whatever time is very motivating and is free encouragement...
Now, where's that picture of the new you?0
