when counting calories...

I have been counting my calories and doing well and not going over my carbs or fats for the day but the past few days I been going over my proteins by a few points daily. My question is....Is it bad to have too much protein?

  • It's not bad at all. MFP has a very low standard setting for protein, so I'm not surprised you are going over it. I try to reach at least 90 grams per day, personally.

    Oh thanks that's good to know! My tracker gives me 69 protein for the day and I go over about 10 or so points daily..

    Going over by only a little is not going to do any harm (and according to lots of people here, it's a good thing).
    Just like everything else, you CAN have too much protein but you have to go pretty high before it will be a problem.

    Protein is like the one thing that you WANT to be over with on MFP. They have their levels set ridiculously low for some reason. Protein and fiber are both good!! They make you feel fuller :)
