Which calorie counting/heart rate monitor (watch) to buy

Looking to pick up a watch to count and confirm calories burnt for exercises such as basketball, elliptical, walking, etc. Don't mind spending a little if the more expensive monitors are better quality and more accurate, but don't really need anything top of line as I am not a regular runner. Anyone already do the research or have any feedback good/bad on watch monitors? Thanks.

want to bump this up since the board moves pretty quickly, can anyone recommend a watch or provide feedback about their usefulness for counting calories burned more accurately? thanks.0

I love my Polar FT4... it does everything I need it to!0

You got to get the Polar FT4!!!! You can't go wrong with this.....its all you need!!!!0

I personally am using a Polar FT7 and like it very much. The FT40 I understand has an even better, more accurate calorie counter and doesn't cost much more than the FT7.0

1. Here is a great blog to read - very helpful.

2. Go to Amazon.com and read reviews.
You can also go to the websites (like Polar) and do side-by-side comparisons of various models.0 -

Another happy Polar FT4 user!! I love it, and I find it makes me WANT to work out more, and try new exercises, just to see what my burn will be!!!0 -
I recently bought a Polar FT 7 and I love it.......I walk, dance, do yoga, shovel snow, and do exercise videos.0

can't go wrong with Polar. Several models to chose from. The models with chest strap are the most accurate. FT4 on up to FT80 there's one to fit your needs nicely.0

I was looking at the Polar FT7. After reading that review I'm not too sure now, can't really stretch to the FT40 though as its pretty much double where I am x0

Bump...but hope someone has something really simple, sent an Omron one back as you had to go into modes etc who has time for that, too complicated...just want something easy like calories burnd and heartrate, does anyone know of any.0

I think the Polar FT4 is simple? A lot of people seem to start off with it? Have a look in the shop, I found one sales assistant very helpful despite the fact I told her in advance I'd be buying online as it was half the price.
I did look at the fitbit but it seems to be a glorified pedometer. I wanted something i could use for my gym classes etc rather than all day hence the HRM order. (And the Polar ones can be used in the water where the fitbit can't) x0 -

Hi! I just bought a Newbalance N4 for women (basically the watch is smaller) I like it. It is easy to use, comfortable to wear, and I am also motivated by wearing it. It seems to be quite accurate.0

anyone seen that new nike one???? reviews?0

ha ha. I just linked the blog....I didn't write the blog....but if you look at Azdak's (the author's) profile, you'll see he has been in the fitness biz for decades (Yes, Azdak, I said decades...).
You generally get what you pay for. You won't be disappointed.0
