I go through between 8 - 10 bottles during the day(depending) and also drink quiet a bit during exercise, I have since been told that to much water is bad for you, I have never heard of this please help!!!!!

Yes you can, it can result in hyponatremia which not enough sodium in your body.
You need electrolytes for your body to function, these carry the electrical charges around your body allowing your nervous system to function (they carry the electrical signals)
if you drink too much water you can flush them out.
Keep your electrolytes up especially during exercise (sweating) and you should be ok.
Average water needed for a female during a day in a temperate climate is 2.2 litres thereabouts

i drink about that much each day, and its not bad for you its good for you i think its if you drink 15L a day its becomes bad for you.0

I've never heard that either... I have a bottle too that I fill up constantly (about 10 times a day). I find that drinking more water makes me feel good.I think if it was doing you any damage you would know.0

Too much of anything can poison you - water included. Water Intoxication results when someone consumes too much water in a short period of time. It's like, you hear all these stories of people taking pills then dying? It's because the pills make them hot, they drink too much water, and as above it flushes out their electrolytes and causes swelling of the brain.0

You can drink alot of water , but your electrolytes need to be in balance, if they arent and you sweat alot you can pass out, hyponatremia happens alot in gyms from people on treadmills running andf sweating whilst on diets where they are not maintaining electrolyte balance.
Dehydration is often confused with hyponatremia too, people get headaches and think they are dehydrated and drink more water not realising it was that which did it in the first place, as long as diet is ok in terms of sodium/potassium etc then you should be ok and wouldnt notice it.
The main electrolytes your body needs are
sodium
potassium
chloride
calcium
magnesium
bicarbonate
phosphate

It's more how fast you drink large amounts that can be a problem. Healthy adult kidneys can process about 15 litres per day, but not 15 litres in one go! Water intoxication in adults is rare unless you're deliberately drinking huge amounts in a short space of time (eg, for a dare). If you're just refilling your water bottle and continuing to sip it over the day you should be fine.0

^ thanks for that x0

My mother was being treated for bladder cancer a few years ago and her urologist did say to her that you can have too much water. Around 8-10 glasses is supposed to be the perfect amount, too much more and over a long period of time it puts your kidneys under a lot of pressure to process all the excess liquid. Plus the risk of having too little sodium in your body. But i would think that it would be fine to have 10-15 glasses a day, especially if you're working out0

Thanks everyone really appreciate all the info!!!!!0

As others said, you need to drink insane amounts.0 -
I was actually in a club with someone who died of drinking too much water. Next day, there was in the newspapers that this girl drank so much water that there was no sodium left in her body, which your body needs. You basically flush it all out whilst drinking too much.0

I know two people who have collapsed into a coma with hyponatraemia, so it's very real and potentially fatal. There's really no need to drink that much water.0

I think maybe you should discuss this with a doctor xx0

OMG This is all kinda like scaring me a bit here, I'm drinking about 8 x 500ml bottles of water a day - and never drank water before. You guys gonna be making me paranoid now lol. It should be ok right? Not too much of a shock to my system etc?0

read what is above.
Maintain electrolyte balance through natural diet and should be fine, also sip and dont consume lots at one time0 -
